instead of modifying the 200 to accept a 300 tranny, could you simply swap out the internals...gears and what not? theres a profile on cardomain, i'm not sure of the guys name, he may be on here...it was listing the gear ratios, and so forth....really, only like 2nd gear was the largest difference..instead of trying to locate a decent 200 trans

According to a few members on this board, it is possible to swap the internals from the Z31 into at least the VG cars...Th biggest difference is the tail shaft diameter, and the length of the tranny, but apparently the internals are the same. 8)

Be careful with that. Not all Z31 tranny's are identical. The early Z31's had tranny's made by Borg Warner, whereas the later ones were actual Nissan units. Not sure if there were differences between turbo and non turbo as well. You'll have to do a lot more research before you put down money on a tranny that may or may not suit your purposes.

What I heard about that was the N/A Z31's had the nissan trans and the turbo cars had the borg-warner T-5.

If this is true or not I'm not sure, but that's what I heard.

Well, the later turbo Z31's switched to a Nissan tranny. I had an 87 Turbo Z31 tranny in my last VG S12, and it was a Nissan tranny. Not sure about the NA Z31.

all N/A's are the same as our N/A's
early tubos got T5
later got a nice nissan unit

personnally, i'd go with First and Second out of the Ca18ET. (better accel) and keep the rest of the VG gears..better Top End. Im sure there are larger gears that will fit (pathfinder??), but until the 200 can hit 250hp..i dont see it as a benefit..could be wrong..
