I'm redoin the vinyl on my driver-side and passenger-side doors. I might aswell replace those stock speakers. Does anyone have any suggestions, do i need to buy a certain type of speaker? I was thinkin a JL would be nice.
Any help would be useful.
Thanks

Door Speakers

really as long as the speaker is the right size it shouldnt matter who makes it.. it just kinda depends on your preference.. i personally like Polk Audio, but stuff like the JL's you mentioned are awesome too.. so really, just find the size you need which i believe is 6.5" and then go to a car audio store and listen to some of the different brands and choose which one appeals to your ears and wallet the most!
we have a really shallow mounting depth in the front tho...
so make sure you get something that will actually fit.
ask James what the mounting depth is..he knows
Speaker depth must be less than 2.5" ... If your speaker uses a vented pole (has a hole in the back), it should be less than 2" to allow clearance for the vent ...
Also, it's 5.25" ;) You might get a 6" in, but I don't think you'll get a 6.5" in there ...
I would recommend going with a component system since our doors make properly aiming tweeters impossible unless you're trying to stay cheap ...
I think the TR600-CXis will fit ... It's outside diameter is 157.7 mm ...
my bad.. when i went to bestbuy to look for some i looked it up in the computer thing and it said that both the front and backs were 6.5..
I had four 5.25" speakers stock in my notchback, so I don't know what to tell you ...
My 200SX V6 has Sony ES 5.25" speakers in the doors. My 200SX Turbo had Sony Xplod 6" speakers in the doors. So either will work.
maybe i've been drinkin a lil too much:beer: .. LOL
i installed blaupunkt pcxt652(6.5) speakers in my doors.
i had to drill new mountinh holes, i think the stock ones were only mounted with three screws, the blas were four screw mounting.

As i did i,
I thought it was bit strange,,
I got 6X9's in the rear now, and 6inch 3-way Poineers in the front,
I had trouble fittin em in,
My window winder poped off and i lost the metal pin thing that holds it on!
But, with the speakers in now, it dont fit flush i cant pop all the rivet things back into the door! oh well, i dont really car about my interoir, as long as my seats are comfortable, lol

i just got some 6.5 rockford fosgate speakers in the front and they sound great. Im real happy with them. They put out really good trebble, i disabled my bass to them because i have a bandpass sub in the back. But the Rockford fosgate 6.5 in speakers sound really good. :o
