When i hit the gas the ass end of my car sinks like a rock. My buddy has spring boosters that give an inch raise and kill 90% of the sag. The problem with that is they are no longer available... Has anyone else had to deal with this? Mines so bad that my muffler is maybe an inch above the ground when i take off. I did replace the rear shocks and grabbed some springs off another s12 but they are no better than the ones i took out. Any options or idea would be awesome. thanks

Anyone else have this problem?

I have that same problem, I didn't though until I rebuilt everything to make mondo -power!!!!!!!!
Here's the reasons why
1- It's rwd. thats what they do when you haul on them, lift up the front of the car
2- If your suspension is like mine, thats a big part of why it happens, bad shocks ( says you replaced em...with what? Hopefully kyb) and sorry old springs make it sag bad when the power hits the rear wheels
You could add bump stops in between your coils to reduce the problem
Or you could add some more power and see if you can lift the front wheels off the ground!!!!! That would be way cool!!!!!
I knew a guy with cherokee that would do that, weird eh?
edmonton heh? I never see anybody around edmonton witha 200 we should have a meet in the spring, if you need any parts I have lots
Replace the springs with a high spring rate, this will reduce the how far it sinks but it is just the way RWD car are.
88Turbo, the sag was bad before i did the DET swap but now it's crazy lol. The shocks are just stock and i grabbed some used springs from pick your shit (the red one without the bumper and inside pannel i ganked them too.) i need the ride height so i can get my very much needed mandrel bent 3" exhaust.
I drive a red 200, by buddy drives a maroon 200, and another on of us drives another red one with 17' rimms and NISMO across the front windshield. emails oh****@ohdamn.net drop me a line we usually do wing nite on wednesdays on the southside. Anyone from the city's welcome to jion us.
seems i can't say **** here, so my email should be in my bio...
Yea i have that problem now!
I have to replace springs and shocks,
She saggs HELL, when i dump in first! lol
WHEELS SPINNNNNNS good though! lol
Heh ... I kinda miss it. I used to be able to smash my exhaust against the ground every time I shifted gears. Forget driving over bumps.
It's just your suspension acting up. Suspension isn't just shocks and springs either ;)
Don't forget, shitty shocks up front will make the back end squat too.
With the KYBs I have now, there's no squat. Hell, even if I jump into the hatch, the car only drops 1/2"
hey im also from edmonton, im in the midst of restoring my 200sx, if you guys want to meet up sometime im down
this is prob'ly not right but, after a clutch change, i noticed ALOT less dip in the rear..weird!

maybe cause the clutch is now catching with more force and you're launching harder with each gear change forcing weight rearward?
To bring this back on topic a bit, anyone have advice or is the only option taking out the new stock shocks i just put in buying KYB?
new springs would help more than shocks. The KYB gas adjusts are great rear shocks though i have had them for some time now and they have been great. I'm thinking stiffer rear springs would do more for you though.
just remember this can actually help! the weight transfer puts all the weight on the rear tires which ofcourse helps with your traction!
having a stiff suspension in the rear is actually bad for drag racing unless your fwd
No, that's incorrect. You want a very stiff rear end for drag racing. Wind up (or what we're calling sag) is wasted power. All your torque is being sucked up by your suspension before being transferred to the ground. This also kills your reaction time.
You want the weight to transfer to the rear to get the tires to bite, but without compressing the rear. This is done with drag shocks up front that unload easily. That way the front end lifts, and shifts the weight to the back.
On my Charger, I run what's called a pinion snubber. It's basically a height adjustable bump stop on the rear diff. For drag racing, you pull out the pin, snug it to the floor pan, put the pin back in and go. This locks your diff in place, so that all the power is applied to the tires rather than the suspension.
Great for drag, but sucks if you forget to lower it again for the drive home.
You're probably pushing more power with the DET than I am, but if the clutch grabs, I can launch hard and bang through all the gears without the rear end dropping much at all.
I dunno, maybe try new springs, but I doubt it. My car only looks lowered.

Yah I will have to dis agree. It is like with our sleds. We have everything as stiff as possible. We have a little saying, if you're front is going up, it isn't going forward... Just for reference sake it takes between two and three people standing on the back end of the sled to make it go down the required 2 inches...

I just put in 10" 500lb Hypercoil springs in the rear, got rid of the sag completly unless I'm really driving hard. Even then its just a tiny bit. They also lowered the rear a bit so I like :)
Also with the S12 the more you compress the rear the more camber you get, not the greatest thing in the world, i have 260lb springs on the back now (lowered around 45mm as well) and koni shocks, which are fairly stiff things to (although their affect on sag is probably quite small). I used to have big tail dipping issues, now my tyres only scrub slightly when i'm drag racing or really slamming through gears. I don't think they would scrub at all if the deadner stuff in my left rear wheelarch wasn't so lumpy.
