Some late models of S12 equiped with the CA18DET maybe for testing purposes, before the final installation on the next model S13.

This was purely Nissan fault...but we benefitted. In locations where the CA18ET were being produced, they ran out of engines before they ran out of shells, so they put the S13 CA18DET into them instead. This occurred in the end of 88 to the beginning of 89, and there were not many...I believe that it only happened in the Silvia designated model of the S12...8) Having it with factory LSD is news to me...

Wow a 4.3 final drive. Wonder if the gearing the the gear box is the same or if it has longer gears. A 4.3 final you would really be turning some revs in the stock gears we have.

Yes it is a CA18DET, no it isn't the same as the S13 one, it's a NICS motor not an ECCS one, also i have heard it is a little weaker in the bottom end and more akin to a CA18ET in that respect (thats just what i have heard). It makes a good deal less power than the S13 motor.

Yea, like the RB20DET in the R31 Skylines, that was NICS engine, no where near as good as the R32 one!!!

It was also non-intercooled and had a significantly worse head design.....so if you're buying one always get the S13 version.
