Man i need some help here. I was drivin down the road the other day and went to click on my high beams, when i did O man everything went black, so i turned back on my low beams everything was fine. Aight so i went and bought new headlights for my car and installed them, and guess what still no high beams, but the low beams are very bright(i got the increased brightness ones) But anyways i did some more searching and it looks like the high beam relay is gone, man if anyone can direct me to where i can possibly find one for my car it would be GREATLY appreciated. Thx, and remember HONDAS ARE :lame:
Head Light Relay

Could be the combo stalk on the column that you flick the high beams on with. There are some fingers in there that make contact......if they don't make contact they won't work.
Happened to me.....but with the low beams. I took it apart and re-adjusted the finger things so they would make contact when they were suppose to and they have worked fine ever since.
Naw im almost positive its the Relay, because theirs a weird clicking noise comming from it when i turn on the high beams, its pretty loud too i can hear it inside the car, i popped the hood had my friend turn on the high beams and i found it was the passenger side relay that was makin the loud clickin noise. So now im faced with the hard task of finding a relay switch for my car, wish me luck lol. Hondas are :lame:
So clicking from a relay means it's broken? My the horn in my gf's car doesn't work.. i checked the fuses and they were ok, but I can hear clicking from the relay.. wasn't sure if it was supposed to do that, but I don't know how to test relays to see if they're ok..
Are you talking about the relays on the passenger side fender behind the battery? Underneath the black cover, and are 5 relays, 6 if you have auto tranny? If so......head to the pick n pull. I just got like 5 of the black relays that are in there. The one for the starter. I thought mine might be bad but turns out it was the solenoid on the starter. Anyway.....the ones I got from the junk yard were from 300zx, Maxima, 200sx. All of the Nissans from that era used the same kind of relays, so you don't have to just look for a 200sx....just take the relay with you and match it up with any of the old Nissans.
Oh....and their not that expensive from Nissan. I called my local Nissan, and the black one was $19.95
one of my high beams does not work. the problem is in the stalk, just like what keith said. i just havent had time to take it apart and adjust it.
Ok, head light relays...there are a few that could be causing the problem...there are two on the drivers side, and two or three on the passengers side.
on the drivers side (US cars, passenger side for RHD)...
1 2 3
4 5 6 -> front of car
Relays 2, and 5 control the heads/high beams...they are both black...these can be checked with the lights up, or down...un plug the relay, and run a jumper accross the switch part of the relay... you can also un plug (i believe #4(green)) I think that is the one that controls the temporary high beams (lights off, and you pull towards the steering column...check if both lights go on with this one...if not, then your problem is either in the wiring, or most likely on the passenger side (US cars, drivers side for RHD))...the main thing is only have one relay un plugged at a time, or finding the problem is nearly impossible...
passenger side
1 2 3
4 5 6 -> front of car
#6 i believe controls the lights going up
I think it is #4, and 5 that controls the lights...both black, side by side...one of these could also be the mostlikeliest culprit...un plug one, and replace it with the other...if it works problem solved, and just go to the junk yard for another relay...
Also relays will make a clicking sound...this is from the electro-magnet that is fliping a switch in side, but if it is abnormally loud then it could be faulty...
Now if the column is the problem, it can be taken off by un doing the steering housing, then un doing two screws, and two plugs...remove a clear cover, and this will expose the "fingers" just bend them back with needle points, and replace the cover...that problem solved...
If you have to end up bending the fingers in the stalk, make sure you don't bend them too far, or the lights will come on when their not suppose to. Happened to me.....I was in the garage one time messing around, and all of a sudden the lights popped up and came on for about 10 seconds, the went back down. Few minutes later......same thing. This was after I adjusted the fingers because one of my low beams wasn't coming on. I just took the stalk back apart, and pulled the fingers back a touch, and took care of.
Trial and error.....but haven't had a problem with them since (about 2 years now)
Yah adjusting the fingers amy seem difficult, but it isn't as bad as what you think...
Sweet! Great info! I just did this on my car and it fixed my high beam problem. Thanks!

Glad we could be of assistance
One of my low beams never works I was rigged when it did and some times my high beams dont turn on but if I flick the switch a few times they work again. Does this sound like relays or the switch?
Same thing.....sounds like the fingers in the stalk arent making contact.
