I recently found that someone had hit the corner of my 83' S-12. Now my head lights are all out of sink. At the moment one is up and the other is down, and when I turn the lights on they change, so the other is up and the down one is up!!! How do I change them back so that they are both up when the lights are on??
Thanks for any help..

That doesn't make sence...the up, and down are controlled by one relay, or at least I am pretty sure they are, so it is possible that the internal sensor is out of wack on yours...I've never heard of what yours is doing...the only other way would be if the wires going to the motors were flipped around, but I can't see an accident doing that...
the arm and motor assembly which make the lights go up and down might be out of sync. check to make sure they are both in the same position
Maybe just disconnect ur negitive on ur battery,
or take the fuse out for ur lights and wind them both down or both up using the manuel screws and then connect ur negitive up again and try popin them up and down using the switch.
'83 would be a s110 :D
check your driver's side Door to find out the date(but I guess having a production date of '83 wouldn't be odd seeing as the '84 models would've started production in '83...
What on the drivers side door would tell me what year it really is? also i have tried disconnecting the batter, adjusting the lights, then connectiong it back up, and its still wrong. As far as i can tell the arms are out of sync, how do I rectify this?? Also the reason its an 83 is due to it being build number 278, and its a Jap import. Anwya, cheers for any more help anyone can give!!
it'll say in the door jam I think in the blue section the month and year.
flick the headlight switch so they are both meant to be up,
now the arm that moves the headlight up and down is held on to the motor by a 14mm nut and a washer this forces the arm down on groves so that the headlight can move, the only way to get at it without removing the headlight completely is to a) remove the plastic cover under the light and get at it from under the car or b) remover the marker light and grill this give you just enough room to loosen it and reposition the light then tighten again, if you cant get at it the light are held in by 5 nuts to at the top under the head light cover towards the engine bay (10mm socket small rachet does the trick) and three on the front wall of the engine bay, remove the light undo nut reposition light re-assemble good luck :)
Shane, you are KING!!!!
And my car does not have an ID plate in the door jams, But it is an 83, Like i said, early build date = EXTREME!!!! Yay, now i can get my car all legal Begal.

Not necessarily, some models were put out in 83, as demos, and so on with the S12 promotions. They are the same as the 84 models though...and most of them had every option available...even the very rare rain meter/detector...8)

Some S12s had rain sensing wipers. Basically a little black box on the windsheild that acted as as sensor for water on the windsheild which would activate the wipers. Kinda like how some of the newer Volkswagens have the rain sensing wipers but i'm not sure if the technology is the same but it has probably improved.

Wow. That's the first I've heard of that.
