ignition modual????

I don't have a pic, sorry, but if its a CA18DET then its a black box bolted onto the engine bay wall, probably next to the turbo. The box is roughly 3.5" square and 0.5" thick, with some shallow heatsink fins, and with wiring harness connectors at opposite ends. One connector goes to the computer, the other goes to the ignition coils.
Probably the crank angle sensor in the distributor. You can get a replacement unit from NOPI for 70 bucks.
this is a ca18Et no D, i dunno if its the same or what
In ET there in no module only a power transistor
really??
well i live in the US, and i didn't know that ca18det were availible here. Could the guy not know what the prob. is and just say that it is the igni. modual? or what?
No the ignition module is the CAS unit inside the distributor. Nissan doesn't sell this piece separatly they make you buy a whole new distributor for around $400. NOPI has a new ignition module or CAS unit that can be replaced in your current distributor for only $70. I know because i bought one a little over a year ago and installed it myself.
ok, yea i asked the guy about it today and he said it was like the brains of the distributor.
is it hard to replace?
or would i be able to pull the whole dist. out of the junked ca18et?
thanx alot guys.

Not hard at all.
would you be able to give me a kinda small write up on it, like how to get to it, and what to do
thanx guys this has helped alot.
What you need to do is pull the distributor. Make sure you mark the position that it is in before you remove it. You just have to remove the dust cover after removing the distributor cap. After that there is one bolt to remove in the center and just carefully remove everything noting the position of it and replace the sensor with the new one. There are 3 screws holding it in if i remember correctly. It is very staightforward and isn't hard but take your time and try to keep it clean in there. If there is any dirt of dust inside make sure to clean it out. I used some optical sensor wipes to clean the slotted disc (they are wipes to clean an eye on a thermal printer). Hope this helps a little.
