just wondering if anyone has looked at supercharging the ca20e with the supercharger of say a toyota mr2 or something what other mods would be needed if you were to be running say 3-5psi? any info would be helpful as if this is an economical option i might give it a go, cheers

Don't know of anyone who's done it, but I'm sure with enough custom stuff you could... There's just not crap as far as aftermarket goes for these cars. Would be an awesome project though! I'm not too familiar with the Toyo supercharger setup, so I'm not much help there. It is a roots blower, right?

Oh, and the only thing about the CA20 is the connecting rods are pretty freakin thin, so if you want to really pump the power up, be ready to go in it or swap another motor in...

i post a pic of a CA20E(S) engine

Whoa, I didn't know those SC's were intercooled... :mike:

Yeah, that'd be the thing to do is get a setup like that, and make brackets and a pipe to go from the SC to the intake. That's a looooooong way from the throttle body to the motor though...

Could also maybe see about making some brackets for a centrifugal supercharger, might be a little easier to mount, but they don't make as good low end torque...

what about a blower like this? i think that this kind would be easier to fit.

a little bit of custom fab, but i think that it would work well.
check this out too.

hmm.. this has got my brain thinking.. i could use a supercharger on the SE,.. especially now that i took out the A/C i've got some extra room to play with

look at this VW G60 G-lader (now i know that these things arent the most reliable.. but if one can be gotten cheap it might just be worth it to mess arund with)

anyways.. here is this pic.. see how the inlet is in the front and the outlet is in the back.. this would be PERFECT for the SE..

thanks for the input guys i think this might be a go-er, 1ggze(or something) s/c's go for around $250 aus quite often round here so i might save up a grand or so grab a s/c and have a play,

ps if im only running 3-5 psi i wont have to upgrade much would i?
just some custom fabbing to get it to work

::edit::
on a side not the supercharger off the toyota 4agze is called the s12! it might just be meant to be hehehe

Nebuchernezzerdate not saved · #9

Well it's a SC12, but close enough :P. Just sold one here for $275 with the IC, mate of mine wants to put it on his Micra S (March to some). The 1GGZE supercharger is the SC14 by the way, prolly a much better idea on the CA20E as the SC12 is pretty little and the SC14 is ment for a 2L.

gotta find one that runs off a belt, not a S Serpentine belt. Just a note.

SHEPPO3930date not saved · #11

nissan pintara's came with multi groove belts, and they are powered by a ca20e, so you can swap the pulleys and then u go the right belt to run a SC14 blower....................i planned on doing this, but i am going CA18DET now.

good luck with it

I think a better idea for the vg30 would be the s/c off of the frontier (is it the vg33er or something like that?). Then it'd be a direct bolt on... But that's for the VG30 forum...

the thing is that you would need to cowl or put a hood scoop to make room for it

Joel07date not saved · #14

Hey, just stick it up outta the hood, that'll make all us musclecar guys look twice...

I forgot about that aspect... :hit:

Just a thought, but depending on the size, and the pulley type, you could put it in place of the A/C...
