???????????
candles huh... never heard that before... anyways the extra set of 4 plug/candles is emission related.. you have a ca18et 1.8litter turbocharged single overhead cam motor that puts out 120hp and 134tq....
The 2 engines are thus identical in HP.
120 HP all 2!! It is well that.
Holy crap that is a clean engine bay...:yikes:

other then the non cat version(also with the euro cam) is 135hp
No kidding thats the cleanest s-12 engine bay I've ever seen, how many kilometers are on that thing. Mines only got 130,000 and it doesn't look anywhere that clean. What year as well?
it is 1988.
Hey mates,
They are friends of mine.
They would like some details about the engine they have.
Commonly in France, the S12 engine has 4 spark plugs only.
They got a cheap S12 with 8 spark plugs.
You mean you have in US 4 more spark plugs for better emission control : does it mean all the S12 with 8 spark plugs are CAT ?
Are the 4 additionnal spark plugs used all the time ?
How to know if it's the CA18ET ir CA20ET !?
CAT version is 120hp and no CAT version is 135 ?
Only the CAT version has a lambda sensor ?
Thanks.
I dunno the S12, I have a S13 '92 and a Z32 '90.
RC200 made a good summary lol.
Thank you RC200
Those engines are CA18ET. There is no CA20ET, only the non-turbo CA20E. In the U.S. both those engines have 8 plugs.
Ok cls12vg30
thank
