2nd
got a standard actuator (end cut off in pic) / 1 nut and a small length of tube

3rd
thread the actuator arm (7M 0.75) and thread the inner of the small length of tube (7M 0.75)
4th
weld the off cut of actuator on to the small length of tube

I now have a actuator I can shorten by a max of 10mm.
turbo tech told me to shorten it by around 3mm to get 10psi
right I don't think iv missed anything :)
if the pics feck up there in this album http://www.byphotos.com/album/914238
iv made an adjustable actuator took some pics :)

that should be fixed now :)
Pics work fine.
Looks like an interesting mod. Why would you do all that though vs. just installing a boost controller though?
thanks for checking :)
its better than a bleed valve because you don't get spike
its allot cheaper than buying a electronic boost controller or adjustable actuator
I rang turbo tech to buy one of there adjustable actuators £90. the guy said if your only looking for 10/12 psi do this mod it will be loads cheaper, he saved me about £80 nice bloke :)
I did the same mod more than 10 years ago to mine. It is the best way to control spiking without spending $$$ on a boost controller.
what boost have you been running for the last 10 years ?
A manual boost controller looks so much easier. You can make them yourself aswell.
Looks good though!
Wacomuk,
I was running 8psi after the actuator mod. Once I got my intercooler in, I ran 12psi. Then, fearing my head gasket may start leaking at those pressures, I pulled it back to 10psi.
iv ran 1bar on my last silvia with no HG probs
As long as your HG is fresh and you torque down the bolts to the proper specs, you should be fine at 1 bar. Oh and Dave is right, the adjustable actuator arm is a great way to prevent spike, and will resist it towards higher boost when used in conjunction with an MBC.
So do both!
:)
