5 lugs for the rear?

I have a whole 300zx assembly on the passenger side (Becouse of drifting). That's probably not the best idea to have on just one side. The 300ZX came with slightly larger rotors and slightly larger rear calipers. The calipers used the same brake pads though.

If you do swap both sides to 300ZX spec, you may want to swap your Brake Master Cylinder as well, since the 300ZX spec MC has a different rear brake bias to compensate for the larger rear equipment. Leaving the stock S12 MC on and swapping to Z31 rear brakes could result in the rears getting too much pressure and locking up on hard braking.

Hey guyz,

[url]http://home.iprimus.com.au/jverban/[/a]

has a S15 Diff Centre LSD! Smiley for sale. $300!

Will this fit straight into the S12 Diff?? Now im pretty sure i have a R200 but if i had a R180 it wouldnt fit would it?
If i have the R200 will it go in???????

THANKING U!]

If its a Torsen unit, you need the half shafts to go with it.  The torsen halfshafts are 30 spline as opposed to the 29 of the standard R200.

Torsen unit?  Since when did Torsen start making LSD\'s for the R200 again?  They did many many years ago, but you can\'t find them anymore.  It\'s not listed on their website either.  Do you have info that I don\'t, because if Torsen is making LSD\'s for the R200, I know quite a few people who would be interested.

You have an r180 so no it wont fit :-(

The manual S15s came with a helical R200 LSD.  This company Torsen makes helical differentials.  This is why they are typically called Torsen units.  It\'s like calling a clutch based differential a Kaaz differential, since they typically only make clutch  type LSDs.

I\'ve got one of these S15 differentials, but haven\'t had a chance to put it in.  The biggest issue is the half shafts, as Mr Bob stated.  Courtesy Nissan said they could not get the half shafts from Japan because Nissan does not make them anymore and do not have any left in stock.  RX-7 Turbo II axles have the same number of splines and the proper diameter though, but I don\'t know if the length is correct.

Ah, I see.  Like how most people say they have NOS when they mean they have nitrous.  Thanks for clearing that up.  I hope you can find halfshafts that match.  Helical LSD\'s are awesome!

Nissanman as salps12 said Australian delivered IRS s12\'s only came with an R180 (180mm) not the R200 (200mm) as in some cars in the US and other markets.
Also for folks who have the r200:

Isn\'t an s15 R200 a short nose diff like the s13 and s14 diffs?? (as opposed to a long nose diff as found in an S12) which means it doesn\'t fit on the mounts on an s12 rear crossmember??

You can swap just the differental, not the whole case.

I know I\'ve seen this on here before but I did a search and could not find it.  I was wondering how we could convert the rear to a five lug if we have a four?  Will the se parts fit and if so what do I need exactly?

SpooledSep 30, 2004, 6:45 pm · #13

Since you most likely have the R180 diff, I\'m not sure if your halfshafts will work with the 5 lug hubs. Maybe someone can answer that better. However, the entire rear suspension assembly from an SE will bolt in if your car is currently IRS.

IronCrossSep 30, 2004, 7:23 pm · #14

That works too I guess, anybody know of anything easier or is that my only option, it\'s kind of hard to find an se out here that could get the whole assembly off of.  Then again, that means I would swap to the r200 and be able to put in a lsd right?

SpooledSep 30, 2004, 8:22 pm · #15

Yes.  But you can buy an LSD for the R180 through Nissan Motorsports.

Just get 300zx z31 arms with everything brake calipers, roters, and even brake lines. They are all exactly the same. Direct swap. I have a whole 300zx assembly on the passenger side (Becouse of drifting).
