Pathfinder Intake install??

I've heard of guys installing pathfinder intakes on their Z31s to gain more torque. Does anyone know if a Pathy intake fit my 87 se? Or is there something I can do to make the original intake flow better besides match porting?

Yes, the Pathfinder intake manifold will bolt to the motor, just like the 300ZX. However, it will not fit under the hood. I'm not sure if the Pathfinder manifolds that The Specialty Shop sells that are machined to fit under the hood of the 300ZX will fit under the hood of the 200SX. No one that I know of has done this mod yet. Otherwise, you can still upgrade the throttle body to the 240SX or Stanza 60mm throttle body on your stock intake manifold.

Will it work on the S12? Yes. But you will have to take a Reciprocating Saw to your hood to make it clear. Even the ground down to fit under a Z31 hood will be too tall for the S12.

Take a look at the S12 V6 intake manifold compared to the Z31 intake manifold and the re-engineering they had to do in order to make that VG30 fit under our hood. It just barely clears within 2cm of the hood with the shortened intake manifold. Not even the stock Z31 intake will clear our hood.

But it may fit if you get a turbo hood. I was thinking about this upgrade myself once I have the VG30ET in my s12. I already have the the turbo hood on and it ads another inch or so. I was actually thinking of making it a functional scoop then cutting along the edges of the scoop and raising it another 2 inches to fit an oil cooler or something. But I may do the Pathfinder intake instead.

Isnt something different in the front of a turbo hood. I remember I tried installing the wrap around turn signals and honeycomb grill but the grill didn't quite match. Anyways if its just the front that different I think Its definately worth trying. Let me know how you make out.
