thanks

and yeah, ARC make good intercoolers :)

how do you find your kyb/king spring rear?

I have JIC coilovers but as you well know mounting the rear will be a fabrication mission.
Am gonna try using some shortened kyb's with cut fact springs in the rear for a bit :)

I got my kyb rear shocks from www.whiteline.com.au and got my springs from www.kingsprings.com.au you can also get springs from www.k-mac.com.au

Just make sure you ask for z31 rears lowered 60-65mm. Normal lowered Z31 springs are standard height S12 items.

From memory Shocks are $90 for each and the springs are $160 a pair.

Wouldnt your rear sag badly with cut springs, causing some bad neg camber. Something you dont want on the drag strip right?!

cool, not hard to make fuel rails etc either :)

almost bought an aftermarket plenum from japan the other day.

massive alloy one-off job, runs duel sets of injectors (currently 1 x std set + 1 x 440cc)

and it came with a 90mm throttle body!!! last used on a car running 680ps :p

but it was gonna cost 1000 plus shipping etc!

which still would have been a good price but my missus would've killed me :o

oh well, dreams are free......

AHHH this sucks. stuck in the U.S. with a N/A fj and not a way to get mods in sight. i am not to worried bout it though i am probably just gonna import a fj20et eventually. but for now i'll just run N/A i am gettin some ngk plugs and wires and that is about it.

Finally got my car tuned, well, tuned to 15psi anyway

223.9kw @ 6200rpm

391nm @ 5180

just after this run my external wastegate seized making tuning to the target 20psi impossible :o

quite happy with the result though, should be enough to have a bit of track fun.
once I get my wastegate back that is :)

will scan in dyno sheet when I get to work tonight

my setup is:

Rebuilt FJ20 - now 2.1l
Tomei forged pistons
Major head work/valve work.porting
Nismo 240RS bits in and around :)

LINK computer
550cc rx7 injectors
Factory TB/Plenum
Factory exhaust manifold w/ext. wastegate added
T3/T4
ARC 'EVO 6 ' intercooler

cheers
Adam

I alrady have the struts and springs on one of my other s12's.

and they're only gonna be used while I get the structural changes required made. then Ill be using the JIC rears as well :)

might drag it once in a while, building it for driftin mainly :)

well adam the challange is up! im still piecing my go fast bits for my fj together but what i have already is not too different to what your using...so youve set a benchmark for me to try and beat!
-garrett t3/t4e hybrid turbo
-trust type r bov
-evo 5 intercooler
-evo 7 560cc injectors
-68 mm throttle body
-tial 38mm external wastegate

still to get the fuel pressure reg, pump and computer..
time to start saving hard!

adam666Oct 7, 2004, 2:36 pm · #28

Wicked, will be interesting to see how yours turns out!

I have a larger TB also but havent installed as yet, not necessary till stage 2? well see :)

wat computer u gonna run? shouldnt need a fuel reg if its fully tunable? pump definately though :) raising rail pressure is cheating in my book :)

im not using the factory rail as they are top feed o/ringed injectors.
so i am going for a regulator separated away from the rail as the new rail will foul the factory one. im also using the dr30 intake manifold.

looking into using a microtech or a link, but still weighing up which will be best for the money and familiarity to my local tuners...looks like microtech at the moment.

FantasyMar 18, 2005, 11:34 pm · #30

Nothing like some friendly completion.

I'm about to put on a GT30R Turbo.
Custom 600x300x105mm core size bar & plate intercooler.
Custom exhaust manifold.
Custom inlet manifold.
Tial 46mm waste gate.
880cc injectors.
Microtech.
3" intercooler pipes
3.5" stainless dump pipe.
3.5" stainless exhaust.
Custom 1" stainless fuel rail.
New fuel reg.

I'm going to run about 18psi on pump fuel.

Here is some links to other FJ20's I have built.

adam666Jan 15, 2006, 6:05 am · #31

The beast is back up and running, notably at a much lower fuel pressure, being as the k-jet mercedes pump extra high pressure rogered one of my injectors open.

now adj fuel pressure reg in place and base pressure set at 55psi (base was up around 85 before) and the car is in need of a complete re-tune.

so with a trip to the dyno on the cards, a good excuse to get it tuned up to 24psi this time (limit of current turbo), assuming my wastegate wont seize this time!!

and will possibly be adding an ERL water injection setup pre-dyno as well.

will update as soon as I can afford it all :)

VEG: wats up with ur beast? tuned? hp?

laterz

VEGIEJan 15, 2006, 6:58 am · #32

hey adam, long time no hear...

ive actually had a bit of an unplanned "de tune" thing going on.

a batch of dodgy gas, two fuel pumps, one injector and a fuel pressure regulator and a fuel filter latern, and it was going again! but i have to change the fuel tank with my spare as its got a weird whitish powdery build up all through it.

after i got that stuff finally sorted (they all failed at different times) it started leaking water into no.4 cylinder. im hoping its just the head gasket, and my new replacement set just arrived, or i might be going to the spares motor of mine!

i havent pulled it down yet but when i do im going to measure the bores up and order my forged pistons assuming everything is ok. im going to give it a balance and rebuild at the same time as i was planning to do it soon anyway, this just sped the job up:(

Off topic but...

Vegie you selling a blue fj20e notch on trademe?

VEGIEJan 16, 2006, 7:34 am · #34

nope, not mine.

my one is chassis code #2, his one is #11.

looks alright though, until he put the mags on...

adam666Jan 23, 2006, 4:17 am · #35

hehehe

Ive had a few issues myself :)
the jammed injector was filling the bore with petrol which cause it to hydro-lock, (SOUNDS NASTY!!), cause no the gas does not want to be compressed.

and yeah, fuel filter, plugs and those little things u forget about -

almost got all the money for a tune so hope to be on the road at 24psi before too long :) man im gonna be broke payin for petrol!!
