Hey guys,

Came across THIS (http://www.diy-wb.com/info.htm). Rekon it'd be any good? Seems like a nice cheap alternative :D

Looks good but man does it look complicated, i would rather buy somthing that is that difficult to make LOL

Hmm ... I could build that

Question is, it says it's a "controller/display" and I only see its display options.

Like a super A/F gauge.

What exactly is it going to control? Heh ... I can build it, I just need someone to tell me how to apply it *lol*

Talked to a buddy who has actually don it. He got a innaccurate reading and went out and bought a used one, and sold the other one on ebay.

Dont think it actually controls anything either.

i didn't read the article, but i'd assume it was controlling the o2 sensor heater. i hear they are very sensitive to temperature and have to be tightly controlled to get the proper readings.

Well if i can get hold of a wideband o2 from a scrappy i'll build it :D I managed to convince my lecturers that building an S12 rally car was a good idea so diy will be the way most of the equipment will be made ;)

The silver box marked "CR7" looks like it has a pot without a knob on it, that is your "controller".

I might try this if someone can point out where the overall cost is located... that page is pretty confusing, and I could have done a much better job with the layout.

I know it is controllable ... I just don't know what it "controls"

And how exactly do you "tune" something you need to be static to tune everything else from? *lol*

sschungdate not saved · #9

for serious tuning you want a datalogger. it's a bit more expensive than just a wideband o2 and some dyi components but much more conducive to fine tuning. i have a hard enough time watching the tach and boost while driving let alone another gauge.

and just where do you find the schematics or pre-assembled atalogger for a CA18ET? I said this long ago...

just get a s-afc and a nice professional wideband... lt1 or lmt.. cant remember the name.. they run about 350 and are very userfreindly

i haven't seen a diy datalogger (altho it can be done if you have access to industrial supplies). like bart says, you can get a total package. check out zietronix. they offer a datalogger/wideband conbo for $280. the realtime display (unless you have a laptop) is not included in that price but all you need for that is 5V meter or a multimeter.

$280 complete, eh? Linky link link me to it, man :)

remember, the display is extra. but if you have a laptop or a multimeter you can temporarily read the a/f. the datalogging is the key.

if you wait a few weeks, i ordered one of these to help tune some larger injectors i have (altho i am starting to suspect they are stockers). so i can review it.

heck, maybe i'll even sell it once i'm done.
