I tore apart the CA20 intake last night and was messing around with it trying to figure out what to do to make this POS flow better, and when I took the plate off of the lower part of the intake (for the EGR), or course, it was plugged slap up. So after a few minutes of scraping and digging, I noticed that the EGR holes would be about the right size for a NOS fogger nozzle...
I kind of wanted to go with about a 50-75 shot when I go back together anyway, just to have a little extra insurance in case someone is actually faster... I was just gonna go with a single nozzle up around the throttle body, but this might work out a whole lot better... Hmmmm....
Crazy idea for the CA20 intake

ya i had concidered doing the same but with cold start injectors.... would have worked great but then i decided that using a s-afc and bigger injectors would be much easier and safer
When injecting nitrous into the plenumb it will only enter the cylinder which it is closest to. Egr is on the back so this would be the rear cylinder.(no 4)
Making a direct port kit is not hard at , just drilling and taping on the intake runners and a couple of distribution blocks.
PM me for more information on corectly scratching up a direct port kit.
Question...why hasnt anyone used the CA20 intake on the CA18et for a front mount? I would figure that the ca20 intake plus a ka throttle boddie would be the way to go...
Than again i have no et's around.

JohnKaz has used the ca20e intake manifold on a ca18et.
Yeah, the CA20 intake would be better for a front mount, and a couple people have done it, but it looks (just by the looks, I haven't ever measured) like the CA20 has a longer intake runner, I'm guessing cross section is about the same though...
As far as the direct port goes, yes the EGR enters in the rear, but if you take the cover plate off, it has four holes going directly into each intake runner. I'll take a picture of it in a couple minutes. I just sandblasted the lower intake, and the wierd thing about it is, each hole is a DIFFERENT SIZE!!! I can't figure out why, but just thought that was wierd. I might not end up doing it this way anyway, since there's not that much meat there to drill and tap into...

So do you think this would work in this location, or does it need to be closer to the head? I just thought this would be an easier place to put it than the traditional location of just before the fuel injectors, especially with the way the upper plenum curves over on the CA20 intake. If you needed to work on the nitrous system at all, you'd have to take off the upper intake. This way it would be underneath in a rather easy spot to get to (if there is such a thing on an S12  )...
awesome observation on the differnet sizes, and by the looks of things it should work well.
Ok the cyl 2 and 3 holes are larger, but they are also closer tho the feed of the recic exaust. While the two farthest away, cyl 1 and 4 are smaller. The reason for this is to balance an equal amount of exaust to all 4 cyclinders. Becasue the exaust is pressurized, it will lose momentum filling the larger openings. This balances the volume of exaust into #2 and 3.
SO, in retrospective, this will work with a Nitrous kit. I would use an air nibbler on some 1/4 inch sheet steel to make a replicate flange for the egr valve, drill the apropriate holes frot the two mounting studs, then drill a hold in the center of the plate for the Wet shot nozzle.
Next would be to find a deep nut with compatable threads for you're nitrous nozzle. Tig weld this nut all the way around the centered opening. Then just use a new egr gasket (and maybe a little RTV) too mount our new plate the manifold. As well, use teflon paste around the Nozzle to the NUT fitment for a secured seal. A pressure leak here would unbalance the new super pimp nitrous flow.
Awesome observation Joel.

Don't know alot about NOS, but can't you simply just tap your intake pipe right before your throttle body for the nozzle placement? I've seen this done multiple times on different car tv shows.....Hot Rod tv, and Trucks on Spike tv.
Seems to always be their choice of placement
Awesome observation Joel.
Aw, thanks, you're making me blush...
Well, instead of doing all that though, what do you think about a direct port with one nozzle for each cylinder? Then I would just have to drill and tap all four holes to fit the nozzle, and it would have one for each cylinder... Just throwing out some ideas...
