Hello everyone
I think i might have been driving my car with a torn steering boot for a while. Its the book that connects to the tie-rods and is connected to the rack and pinion. Now its making a whining noise when i turn my wheel. Should i just get a new rack or just slap on a new boot?
thanks club-s12

If your rack is leaking just replacing the boot won't fix it. You need to replace the rack. The whiring sound is the pump because you are low on fluid. You can top it off for now unless it is leaking that badly then it's not worth it.

Yup, I second VG30E's thoughts. You can get a remanufactured steering rack from a few places.

ok thanks vg and spool. I'll just get a remanufactured rack.
