Ok well sometime yesterday my only key to my 200SX snapped off. The door locks dont work of course so i leave the car unlocked all the time. I go to Lancaster Nissan and they tell me they can't bring up any keys by vin# from any year past 93'. He tells me to check my glovebox for some white sticker which is in there and just reads about vehicle capacity etc. It has a small# in the lower corner i'm hoping it is it. :wall:

Anyone else w/ a S12 ever been in a similar deal? Any reccomendations :-|

sometimes you can have keys cut from 2 halves. bring both into a home depot or wherever you have keys cut, and they can maybe both clamp both peices in place for cutting the new one. i've had it done before.

well i called nissan and they said thats not the right sticker in the glovebox.
I lost the other half of the key. I'm gonna stop by a locksmith to see if they have any reccomendations. Last resort my friend is gonna pull my ignition and i will make a switch so i can get around still :spy:

you lost the toothed part of your key? you could possibly have one made with just the teethy half of the key.

alternatively before getting a switch made, you can have a locksmith over to rekey your car. he'll first find something to fit the door, then make sure it works in the ignition. that'll set you back at least $75 bone though.

You can't pull the ignition on these cars like on a domestic. The cylinders are rivoted in place with special rivots. You'd be better off pulling the door or hatch/trunk cylinder and bring that to the locksmith. They can pull it apart and read the code that way.

Well, this is what the lock smith told me. Since all the locks are keyed the same, take the easiest lock out and take it up to the lock smith. The quote I got here was $18 for 2 new keys keyed to my car. They suggested taking the truck key out (I have a notch but you could probably do it just as easily with the hatch. They don't change the lock, just make a key that works, and should work with the other locks (as long as non of the others have ben replaced or rekeyed).

Edit: Man, should have read all the posts before posting, oh well.
