Alright, my question is, why would you want some kind of driving light when you've got pop-ups? I really hate pop-ups to begin with, but then you want to drive around with them popped up with driving lights on? I know, I know, everyone's entitled to their own opinions, but I hate the way pop-ups look when they're up. (especially when one's up and one's down, that's REALLY annoying...)
But really... These projector lights look like they are going to melt once lit. I was once into buying a pair but then I wanted to know if they are good enough... what do you guys think?
I have a set of "projector" H4 conversion lights in my T/A with the Xenon "super white" bulbs. They flat out SUCK!!!!
Can't see a freakin thing. As soon as I get a chance, they're coming out, and the sealed beams are going back in. I think if there was a company who actually made a good quality H4 conversion, then it would be a good upgrade, especially with some Sylvania Silverstar bulbs or equivalent. But don't get the ricer stuff. It just doesn't work, and I know from experience.
Now I'm gonna go hang my head in shame for being so ricey...
I clicked on "Products" and dude has this listed:
-Springs (Ground Effects)
How the **** do springs and ground effects fall into the same category??? What a MORON!!!
Sorry I needed to lash out at something today... ;)

bosch and hella make very good H4 conversions. I have the bosch H4 conversion installed and even with the 66/50 watt bulbs they come with, they light upt he road 10x better than stock sealed beams.
they're pricery than those ricer H4 conversions you find on e-bay. I paid $123CDN after taxes for my bosch units..and hella ones are a few $ more. but well worth it..especially if you get some 100/80 watt bulbs.
Yeah, I figured someone made some nice ones, but I got these for like $20, and figured they're worth a shot, but all they did was get me made fun of for being a ricer... :frown:
Oh, and are the Silverstars the higher wattage bulbs, cause whatever they are, they sure do a heck of a nice job! We put some in our old box van and my sister's Escort, and they light up a whole lot better than the stockers. A little expensive though...
I'm pretty sure Sylvania has some 100/80 watt bulbs.
but you need to check on the package before you buy to see wut wattage they are...
and dont' be fooled by the temp of the bulb. they can have a higher temp (more blue) but the wattage may be lower then a cooler temp bulb.
I suggest PIAA bulbs tho. they're not cheap at 74USD a pair..but you're definitely getting what you pay for.

I believe they are 60/55W I have the boxes for mine in my basement still, I should go down to check...

I hate those crapy ricer bulbs!! They look bright But you can't see crap, expecialy in the rain. And as for the H4 conversion make shure that it is an all glass one. not the one that just has a glass lens and a plastic housing. The heat from the bulb makes the reflective mirror crap cloud up and melt. It happened to me. The all glass housing one is great. I had them 4 years agoI don't remember what brand I think rayburg or hella. Pricer, but well worth it.
hey man i just bought some open housing lights with city lights, dropped in some h4 OSRAM silverstars (the ones from europe), and put in xenon white 194 bulbs for the city lights and im very happy with them. Much brighter than the stock POS lights.
What are the "city" lights?
So are you saying these projector housings are fine/great with the right bulbs?
"City lights" is kinda like parking lights in your headlights. It's an old trick. drill a hole in the housing for a wedge bulb.
I have on mine, jason.
My whole thing is why do you want parking lights in pop-ups? Am I the only person who thinks pop-ups look stupid popped up?
Because in the daytime in canyons you can run those isntead of headlights, sorta like GM's driving lights.
But these will look nicer. AND unlike GM's, you can shut these off if you wire it that way. I think they are a nice feature and don't interfere with the normal operation of the headlamps.

I only pop mine up at night. I like the way it looks down. Im tring to find something to use as a running light in my parking lights that are bright as hell but wont melt them. And the turn signals to stay on and bright like the c4 corvett.:)
use an 5 watt LED...
How would you wire that in?
..pop-ups are stupid looking, but sweet in their own way...i like how they work for points of reference. but i definately want to convert mine to no pop-up.

I only pop mine up for a sec. in the day when I see another s12 to say hi.:)

Im using the 5 bulb led 194's right now. I like them, they are bright, but not bright as hell like I want them.

why have you got a s12 if you dont like pop up headlights?, there the main issue on the cars styling.
i like mine. they look a lot meaner with the rally guards and wipers fitted.
I don't know why I end up with pop-up cars all the time, I guess I like the way they look down. Maybe it's just that I've had so many problems with the one's I've owned. My first gen RX7 had one motor broke, so I left them up all the time. My 89 T/A has one broke, but since I've got fog lights, I just leave them down and drive at night with one up...
So far my S12's are working fine, I guess I've just had bad luck with them. I just don't see why someone would want to ride around with them up in the daytime. But that's just my opinion. I'm not picky enough to not get an otherwise great car just because it's got pop-ups though...
apc makes lights that fit and you can buy them at kragen and they work pretty nicely actually.
They purchase them from a taiwaneese company that makes them for another ricer brand in japan that all the kids use for hid kits on 180sxs.
Long explanation.
John
I think you need this for your car joel.

Ahhh... Right click, save as... Thanks buddy! I'm still looking at options for the headlights, but I like that...
