Howdy ppl,
Today i tested my 1/2 cut's engine, a CA18DET from an auto silvia. Auto i hear you say?? Thats right, i figured that getting a stock CA18DET from a stock silvia with "slushbox" would mean the engine has had an easy life. Well today i found out that sometimes taking a gamble pays off.
I started the engine up and she ran fine, smooth and didnt "hunt" on idle or low revs. It revved up through the rev range smoothly with nothing but a slight turbo spool-up noise, followed by some flutter as i backed off. The temp sat normal after it warmed up, and there was no oil light on after start up. So i turned it off and started it up again, no drama's..... Infact it was one of the best sounding CA's i've heard, and it was running off the dump pipe! There weren't any knocking noises, top end or bottom end noises, not even a noisy injector.
So far so good...
Now came the inspection after the test run. I noticed the water pump was weeping a little, but i wasnt fussed as i intend on changing it and the cam belt b4 it goes into the S12. There wasnt any oil leaks, coolant leaks (apart from the pump), so it was lookin good. But the best thing happened at the end...... the compression test.
Now from speakin to a few CA18DET owners, they all said look for above 140psi comp on all cylinders, and no variance more that 5-6psi. Well this engine pulled 151, 150, 151, 152psi on its 4 cylinders, so i was stoaked! Thats not far from standard compession.
Anyways, that was the start of my build up. I have also purchased the following for the transplant:
*3 inch turbo back, mandral bend exhaust including cat, mid and tail muffler, off a wrecked 180sx.....wont take too much modding to make it fit.
*Toyota Supra 1GGTE intercooler, the small one, but it will fit inthe front bar without the police seeing it, full sleeper look!
*200sx blow off valve, with anti-leak mod done to hold 1bar easy.
*Exedy heavy duty clutch
So for now, thats it. I hope to let you's all know my progress.
My Ca18det
This thread was saved without dates. "Around Apr 2005" is estimated from neighbouring threads.
Good for you shep, just need to find a ca18 manual flywheel now so you can fit your manual box. Should be pretty easy to pick on up.
Also sorry got to say, get yourself a better cooler down the track, if you are going to do any mods. I had a 7MGTE supra cooler, (the 3 Litre one slightly smaller than Nebs, but a fair bit bigger than the 2l ones), but I sold it as I new it would let me down with all the other mods I have. You really need a decent IC in Aust.
I got hold of a good sized genuine trust polished bar and plate one for just $350 off a forum in pc. Its about 580 x420 x 75mm thick with 2.5 " inlets and outlet. I'm stoked as it is heaps better than the hybrid copies being sold now, and will outflow and outcool them by a mile. With a bit of mucking around, (well a fair bit) I got it to fit completely behind the front bar, and still have the aircon too, and its fairly unobtrusive.
I presume your 200sx b/off valve is a stocko recirc one?
I had a big shiney pfffssst thing, I sold it and went for a stocko silvia one, as I hate the silly look at me everyone noise. The stocko ones have a bleed hole in them that bleeds pressure off if you try to boost over 10psi. All you do is put a grub screw in the bleed hole and they are good for high boost. I tested mine on the compressor up to 30 psi and it was fine. You can run them as recirc, which I have done, or leave the end open as a pffffssssht thing.
Good to see you got yourself a decent CA.
What are you going to do with your car? Street, strip, track, drift, show?
Get some pics too 8-)
the 1ggte intercooler is a "stepping stone" cooler, somthing to get me up and running. eventually i will geta a custom item made, 100mm thick, that fits in the nose section without drawing attention.
I am getting a manual flywheel with the engine, spiggot bearing as well, its part of the deal.
Salps, the car is going to be built up to accomodate the following:
"only" 150kw at the wheels, whilst remaining responsive,
daily driving in traffic (so no triple plate metal clutches here!)
occasional track days with the car club, and drift practice nights,
and last of all, keeping it anti-police-attention for noise or HUGE fmic's n stuff.
i'll keep yas updated.
you going to be using the ca18et tranny?
it will make your life very easy...
short shifters just buy any for the 240sx
wiring that engine if you got it covered then cool if not let me know and i can help you step by step!
He's an aussie euroboy, finding anything from a 240SX would be troublesome...
Sounds like a nice find sheppo, but I can top it :D I had a new CA18DET put in in January (no. 4 on the engine I bought the car with was ovalled out and had 45psi compression :E), first replacement delivered was rooted (compressions between 70 and 130, and it filled a large workshop with smoke in less than a minute). 2nd one delivered was 170 +/-2 compression across all 4 cylinders. Stoked :)
have you ever put your car on the dyno fester?
i got the wiring sorted.....i think....the old man is an electronics engineer, so i think he can integrate the 2 wiring diagrams.
again, i am using the ca20e tranny as a stepping stone, when it craks the shits i will put in a S13 tranny, shortened tailshaft, R200 MechLSD and Z31 shafts, but all in due time.
and when it comes to parts, it helps when ya car is supported by a performance/drift business......mmmmm trade cost parts!
have you ever put your car on the dyno fester?
Too lazy/busy (you choose!) salps; I keep meaning to get around to it, but I haven't even done the groundwork to identify a good dyno shop in sydney or newcastle with experience with CA's and Microtechs.
My guess is around the 180rwkw mark pushing 18psi, but thats only a guess. I'm daily driverising atm too, so I've got the boost wound down to around 12psi.
what type of clutch do you guys use?
i am thinkin a exedy h/duty clutch, as i have on ein my ca20e and they seem to do the job, and are not as snappy as a performance clutch.
other than that, a 5 puck clutch is the next thought of mind. I ave driven a CA18DET with a 5 puck brass button, and it wasnt that bad, just dont ride them as they wear out very quick!
Any ideas??
I actually got a clutch from the hottest clutch makers on the block. Extreme Clutches in SA. Very cheap clutches for such an excellent product. Heck horsepowerinabox.com is charging $100-250 on top for the same clutch from the same ppl. Shows they are up with the jap products.
Depending on what your going to be into, you can get them from $300-600.
I think i got the Cushioned ceramic item. pretty bitey for a street clutch but you can still ride it better than a full ceramic which makes for a better street clutch. 40% increased clamp load too.
http://www.horsepowerinabox.com/HPIAB2/images/ck02_01lg.jpg
I know neb uses something similar to this, a street HD item of some sort.
http://www.horsepowerinabox.com/HPIAB2/images/ck03_01lg.jpg
And he doesnt complain about slip in his 150rwkw beast. Neb?

If your interested silviansw.com is having a dyno night on friday or saturday sometime soonish. Should check them out and represent the S12 & CA crew! Its at unigroup and i think they also may be able to help you out with the microtech. just an idea ;)
Nebs clutch is a nismo heavy duty that has been rebuilt by a local clutch place up here and the clamp pressure has been made even heavier again. i get my clutchs built by them aswell and have never had a problem. come to think of it i need them to make me a new one for my SR beast, as i have an unknown clutch init and dont know how much longer it will last with all the track work we are now doing.
Yeah mine was the nismo pressure plate that came with my halfcut rebuilt for 700kg clamping and using a full face organic nissan patrol centre. It works fine day in day out.
salps, how much for an Extreame clutch from the adelaide guys??
I am after a heavy duty clutch (wont pay more than $350 for a HD)
If its only a little more, i'll go a better one, but my limit is $500 TOPS!!!!
i kinda need it soon as i picked up the engine today, and within 2-3 days i will pull the S12 off the road and start the conversion.
Are any of you guys running the Variable Butterfly Intake System? Its vacume controlled, and i wanna know if i can simplify its operation to just make it open on boost, and close on no boost/vacume. Maybe just plumb the acuator to the plenum??
Catch yas
My secondary butterflys are permanently open. I didnt notice anything b4 so meh...
Ill give you their website and contact details so you can talk to them about what clutch you want and what compromises you wat, etc. They are very helpful and dont pressure sell. They just tell you how it is which is one of the reasons why i went with them straight away.
xtreme clutch (http://www.xtremeclutch.com.au/)
(08) 8234 2222
DEAL WITH THEM ONLY AND DONT GO THRU ONE OF THEIR DEALERS. YOULL PAY MORE! :boobs:
i have decided to give the butterflies a direct vacume/boost signal from the plenum, so off boost and under vac they will be shut, then when the loud ledal is meshed, they'll open up on boost............sounds good in theory.
I might get a clutch place to reco a 2nd hand clutch, as alot of ppl have done this and have been happy, and for around the $200-250 mark, its a nice cheap option. I dont wanna pay much more for a clutch.
I just checked the turbo's shaft end play.................................well i should say lack of end play, she's a minter!
I am removing the powersteering pump (HICAS 4WS pump) tonight, and also get ready to change the water pump.
I think the sump needs work, as they (importers) sat the engine on it and dented it to a flat bottom now, hope the oil pick up is ok :S Does anyone have a CA18DET sump lying around, or will my CA20e sump fit on?? I know there's only one way to to find out, try it, but the CA20e is still in the car running.
But yeah, thats me done.
clutch issue solved, my exedy heavy duty clutch on my ca20e will bolt onto the ca18det flywheel, so thats solved, and i am sure it can take a slightely modded ca18det, as i have seen standard 13B clutches hold 200kw 13B turbo's! But then the h/duty clutch does die, i will get it rebuild for more clamping pressure.
if only my IC had arrived, i'd have started by now.
actually i am suprised that you would say that....
the flywheel dimenssions are the same only the bolt pattern is different...
and the clutch will fit ANY ca engines...
make sure since your engine is not running your turbo is well oiled because the seales on mine went dry and now it's shooting oil!
well it wasn't spraying oil or smoking on the test run, and it was running only 2 weeks ago, so i dont think its going to f**k up too easily. the turbo has no shaft endplay at all, so its had an easy life.
i am using the CA18DET flywheel, with the CA20e clutch bolted up to it, speakin to some people, the H/duty CA20e clutch should hold it, but i might get Nobel Park Clutch and Brakes to rebuild the pressure plate for another 40% more clamp, then i'll be sweet tto like 350HP!
but yeah, new water pump and high performance timing belt (funky blue one) have been ordered, so its all systems go! get it this weekend.
Sweet!!
Would be very nice to compare our cars!! Hurry up will ya  :D
pics of my baby (engine) are at:
http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/643562/3
clutch has been decided on (pending return email from Mark at exedy) a ca20e pressure plate, heavy duty item, whats in my car at the moment, and a 5 puck friction disc for a ca18det....as the two clutches are the same.
salps, yeah should be good to compare, yours will go a hell of alot harder!
my ca20e just had its last run, went for a 150km drive, gave it alot of stick, and now it has retired. The S12 is now in the shed, engine crane above the engine bay, and a ca18det next to the car.............things are lookin good :)
if anyone has advice on hooking up the ca18det engine loom into the S12, please feel free to add your thoughts. i think i am ontop of it......... :S
but yeah, lookin good so far!
Gday,
Today/night was full of interesting suprises, most not good!
Mounts for starters..... S12 wont go onto the ca18det block, no ifs no buts, it just wont work! There's also no way to miss match either.........so what i did was remove the ca20e mounts from the cross member (using a specially made ring spanner welded with a bend in it, then onto a long screwdriver!) and i am going to use the ca18det mounts straight into the cross member.
then i ran into another problem, the threads on the mount-crossmember bolts are different, luckey the ca20e front pipe (exhaust) bolts were the same size and thread, and with some washers, will do the job nicely.
problem number 2, spiggot bearing in the crank shaft from the ca20e is like .5mm larger than whats needed in the ca18det. so i gotta get one from nissan. (anyone got a spare one for a det crank)
3rd problem was the sump had a huge dint in it, taking it back to the importers and swapping for another, also get some wiring plugs and stuff.
so we'll see how tomorrow goes... one exam to go then i can dedicate 99% of my time to this farkin engine swap........1% for sleep.
catch
Did you just say the CA18DET wont work with the CA20E mounts?
yeah did you say the mounts won't fit?
Well of course the engine mounts bracket won't fit...
What you have to do is SWAP the brackets into the det block AND belive me they fit, seeing that i am USING them...i don't really know what you mean though
maybe you's have different mounts than me, as my engine mounts off the ca20e cannot be used. i got pics on my cardomain page if you wanna see the problem.........not really a problem tho as i am going to use the S13 mounts as they are newer and look in better condition.
you must have cracked the s12 mounts open, and taken off the 2 bolt bracket (2 bolts into block) and bolted up the S13 bracket to the mount....but lookin at mine, and the factory manual, it says not to crack them open, so i aint gunna, just sticking with the S13 mounts. easy.
got the sump fixed today, had it panel beaten back into shape for free.
get timing belt and water pump as well this arvo, so they'll go in tonight.
its coming along nicely.
when you use the s12 motor mounts you supposed to use the s12 engine brackets as well...
www.cardomain.com/memberpage/643562/3
look at the ca20e, it was a 2 bolt bracket,
look at the ca18det has a 3 bolt bracket,
unless i am stupid (been told that many times b4) i cant see how a 2 bolt bracket can be used on the CA18DET block! but its not a problem now as i am using S13 mounts, from block to cross member.
so yeah, thats the mounts solved, just running S13 set up.
today i got a high performance timing belt (Gate's Racing), new aftermarket water pump and a magnetic sump plug. put them in on wednesday arvo after my exam. i also dropped off my flywheel for machining this arvo, so that'll be ready tomorrow.
gotta order spiggot bearing for the crankshaft from Nissan tomorrow, and a clutch as well.
so its all happening, the engine goes in on friday i think, maybe thursday night :)
timing belt and water pump are now installed.
does anyone know the defelection the timing belt should have? as its new and all??
but yeah, if my workshop manual (on CD) eva arrives, i'd know how to do it.
anyways its coming along good. i pick up the clutch (Xtreme h/duty pressure plate 800kg clamp, full faced organic plate) and machined flywheel tomorrow.
once its all bolted together, sump installed with magnetic plug, and the engine bay cleaned, the engine will be dropped in, maybe friday night, maybe tomorrow night, all depending.
well thats another update.
Mmmm Im gonna order one of those magnetic sump plugs this week!!
SO which clutch did you get?
This one?
http://www.xtremeclutch.com.au/catalogue/x_img/clutch_discs/DNI2324202.JPG
yeah salps, thats the clutch.
the reasoning for choosing it was drivability. i have to drive in traffic every morning, my GF occasionally drive my car home when i have had a few beers at the pumb, i dont wanna go "banging" the gearbox every shift untill i have the driveline upgraded........and last of all, that pressure plate can be kept and a 6 puck installed if i eva wanna upgrade in the future.
and for $265 for the full kit (pressure plate, clutch disc, thrust bearing, spiggot bearing), you cant go past that value. 800kg clamp load is also heaps, so i dont see it slipping with only 175kw (at flywheel) being transmitted.
i gotta pick that up today...............damm forgot about it.
catch
damn thats a mad price! Excellent choice conisdering its an everyday driver.
I just luv the fact my car isnt smooth to drive in anyway! heh drift style
well with 800kg clamping the clutch disc, i am sure its going to be snappy..... normal h/duty clutches are only around the 500kg mark so this one should bite hard for a full faced clutch. depending on my power output and driving style i might upgrade when things get more serious.
the collar on the rear face of the crank needs to come off as the engine doesnt have the auto anymore. once this is removed the spiggot bearing, flywheel and clutch can be installed and the engine dropped into the bay....speakin of which, its sitting in the engine bay at the moment, still on the crane.
now all i have left to do is the exhaust, wiring (next week), IC piping (next week) and then she's done.
But yeah its lookin good, i am starting to get excited now, might have turbo power within a week or two.
catch yas..
Sheppo dude, good to hear you got yourself into some DET (ha ha)
Your engine sounds good there, but a ca18det that doesn't hunt? It musta missed the que in the nissan factory buddy haha. Your dump pipe will "probably" need modifying becoz it'll hit the firewell (only just, after some mods, with a nylon hammer) i had a TRUST dump from an S13 and it just touched, ofcourse INSIDE the car that sounds like its reaming ur firewall when the engines running haha.
Your engine mount drama's sound strange, mine seems to sit neatly on its mountes and looks stock, i never bothered to check how many bolts they had. if u wanna get it rego'd with the ca18det in there, use the stock airbox, i can snap some pics if u like, but its simple welding in a plate to "shut off" the old outlet, and cutting a new hole in the back and welding on the outlet flange there.
I'll get any of those pics if ya need them, i heard the ca20e manual box is the same as a ca18det gbox, can't say the same for the clutch tho, but that doesn't matter coz u got an aftermarket one.
I have a ca18det exhaust to fit an S12 hatch, i cut it in hald, i'd give it to you if you were in my state. its two and a quarter inch.
What you really wanna check is the quality of your loom, before u install it, so then if u have any problems u can rule that out, also check the ends of your coilpacks as they seem to acquire a greeny buildup.
With a T25 turbo they don;t seem to get much shaft play, but the seals will just shit themselves after time, so if its a bit oily, attend to that str8 away.
If i were you i'd install a catch can when u put the motor in, that way if ur turbo goes u can save the motor (unlike mine hahahaha, too late now eh)
Lastly, the other MAIN issue is trying to get the heater hoses to work, becoz they are setup different. (P.S. u don;t need that bloody line to heat the air in the plenum, as this is Australia lol, so do wotever u want with that) but anyways back to the point, main cause of import engine death is HEATER HOSES breaking and pissing the water out, and by the time u see the temp guage its blown the head or something worse. So i'd change ALL the heater hoses around the whole block dude.
Anyways there's just some info before ya get ur engine in. Any other issues lemme know and i can find out becoz a mate did an engine conversion, from an auto ca20e, to manual ca18det. Plus i've been under mine for hours trying to make a Trust turbo kit fit, with Turbosmart wastegate, custom fabrication long distance, with car on a jack *dOdGeY* hahahaha.
catcha
yeah i intend on using the airbox for the trip to vicroads to get the engine numbers swapped, then once she's all sweet i will be wacking on a pod.
the heater hoses have been made from cut down hoses from other cars, they now line up into the S12 pipes perfectaly!
the firewall is going to get a nice dent put into it for the dump pipe, so then on i can use S13 dumps without any problems in the future.
the loom is what i am going to dedicate all my time to next week, that will take the longest. i am yet to decide what wiring to use on the "cold" side of the engine, as it seems to only be alternator and starter motor wiring.
but yeah, any advice on the wiring, do tell!!!
no need to touch the cold side as everything is plug and play there
2 plugs that go into the tranny i am sure you know that then alternator and starter....
THAT"S it don't fus around with the rest belive me
the hot side i have been busy all this week but i will get sometime this weekend and color to color match that shouldn't take you more than 1 hour to do!

So do you still have it running???
what i said about the heater hoses.............well they dont line up. just fitted the engine and they are 1 inch out, can u believe it! anyway tonight the engine comes out again, and i remake the heater hoses so they are 100% match to the S12 entry/exit pipes on the firewall.
i got the cold side of the wiring worked out, doing that tonight. but first of all i need the heater hoses solved, and then get the engine positioned in the engine bay correctly.............it looks rather tight on the firewall near the clutch master cylinder........is that the case with everyone else's ca18det transplant???????????????
pics of the transplant in progress are on my cardomain page........the web page is listed in this thread somwhere.
i should have the engine cranking over tonight..........at about midnight at this pace.
cheers
just letting you's all know that my engine cranks over, and is in the engine bay no worries. the gearbox is installed with the new clutch and its got a nice and heavy clutch pedal :)
About the wiring, i wired up all the input and output wires for the S13 loom, all was lookin good untill a dodgy join in the S13 loom (it looks like its been repaired b4) decided to short out the high ampage wires into the ECU's lower ampage wires, causeing an ECU melt down.
So now i have decided to throw out the entire S13 loom and ECU and replace it with an EMS Stinger system. Not only will this make turning my car alot easier, but power will be able to be tweaked outta the engine on a dyno with the mods i plan on installing now. (t28BB, thick FMIC, 1bar boost etc)
I am aiming for 175rwkw with the T28 on 1 bar.
My CA18DET has just got serious now, f**k off the standard ECU and its time for power! BB turbo and a good amount of boost! :)
Heh good to see your aiming for good power now.
Tho 175rwkw will be pushing it with a t28bb on a CA. What sort of t28 your going to get? S15JDM or Garrett 320hp item?
With all my mods ill be pushing to hit 165rwkw on a rich tune at 15-16psi.
You do have a healthy engine tho, so good luck and HURRY UP hehe ;-)
I don't think he'll need to push too hard to make that 175rwkw as its only about 235rwhp, fairly attainable with a T28BB. Someone in perth running an S14 T28 made 240-250rwhp. I think you might need some adjustable cam gears and a good POD filter (K&N). Most of the time CA guys just use an adjustable exhaust cam gear.
And whats this about a rich tune? a Rich tune makes u less power, as there is too m uch fuel, maybe u meant a conservative, agressive or mild tune??? The leaner u get without detonation, the more power u make, r u aware of dis salps12?
well unfortunately my car wont be on the road untill late december as money is holding it back (EMS and T28BB) So be patient salps, all good things come to those who wait. I'll give ya a race when she's finished!
i have decided that once the EMS is up and running, and i know a cheap dyno place, i will be aiming form 200rwkw with other mods such as cams, headwork, tube manifold, and a tank of C16. with 200rwkw i should be able to roll off a 12sec pass with good slicks of some sort, and a lower boost in 1st to get traction............but this is later on down the track (no pun intended).
But yeah, one thing at a time now.........gotta work my arse off next week to afford the EMS, then the following pay day should cover the T28, then in another pay day the dyno tune, then another payday will be insurance, then she's on the road.........simply put, about 1 & 1/2 months :(
Catch yas
Dude i dunno that C16 is gunna reflect on the street driven approach here, and where will it fit into the times category? u Eastern states bastards alreddy have Optimax, send us some, in big drums hehehehe. They won;t give it to us over here, BP 98 is the best we can go.
Look forward to hearin it in action anyways, i gunna get stuck into my rebuild very soon, btw u know cams are like $300 each right, if u know of some good ones for less, say NISMO grind specs or something?, plz lemme know, i'd be very keen.
I'm just gunna get the TD05 recond, which involves hi flo'ing, becoz u can;t buy Trust compressor wheels, so i gotta stick a garret one on there, its a 300ps turbo now, with garret comp wheel it'll be a 340ps (about 350hp) turbo, with mega sharp response coz its a 14b housing. i can't wait alreddy :) catchas
i am still deciding on what turbo to use, at the moment i will be fitting the EMS and running the stock T25...........i'd kinda like to find the power limit of a stock CA18DET, including turbo. That'll gimme the time to select (and afford) a turbo and manifold to suit.
Note: the HPI Silvia (CA18DET) made 148rwkw on optimax and 1 bar of boost from the T25.......it was chipped and had a A.R.C. SMIC, 3 inch exhaust, but stock dump pipe. So it will be interesting.
Cams will be reground by Wade Camshafts, they are up the road. I am thinkin somthing insane and give my CA a really burbly idle. Maybe Nismo spec or somthing worse :)
But yeah, hope i can sell my old engine and then i can make faster progress.
Catch yas
the HPI car had a S13 SR T25 on it.
CA16DE camshafts apparently work well, even better with adjustable gears.
I don't think he'll need to push too hard to make that 175rwkw as its only about 235rwhp, fairly attainable with a T28BB. Someone in perth running an S14 T28 made 240-250rwhp. I know a rich tune makes less power but I dont want to be a dyno queen, just need a safe tune for the track. Im aiming for 165rwkw which shouldnt be a problem. But it all depends on the engine tho.
Razor from silnsw.com makes 160rwkw.
GT28 turbo, arias pistons, hks ebc. 15psi.
S13viper from ns.com makes 175rwkw with a JDMt28bb on 17psi. tuned by chiptorque. He also made 127rwkw on 8psi so I reckon with a good spot on tune i could hit 175rwkw. but meh.
But like i said on an old CA and t28bb its pushing the limits of the turbo and the internals of the CA imo.
i'd be happy with 160kw.
i'd just be doing bolt-ons, save for maybe a metal head gasket. but leaving the bottom-end stock all the same.
the HPI car started off with the T25, pulled 148rwkw then the turbo was ripped off, a T25G replaced, with GTR injectors and Z32 AFM it pulled 186rwkw. That was the limit of the T25G.
I have followed the build of that car closely and spoke to a few of the shops who have supplied parts for it, one being Xtreme Clutchs in Adelaide, they supplied my clutch.
I am with Salps, i dont wanna be a dyno queen either, as a top end figure means jack sh1t on the track, mid corner, or when u wanna pull 3rd gear slides!
At this very moment in time, i dont care what my car pulls, what turbo is on it or what colour the sky is, all i want is for my car to be driving! i am sick of driving an auto S-pack Falcon, they suck! I have to dori dori the work utes (5spd 2.7L 6cyl in a tray back!) so i can relieve my "missing-manual-gearbox" syndrome :)
But yeah, maybe this coming week the management will be sorted out.
as far as the HPI car goes, i can only go off what i see in the magazines:)
i'm also of the opinion that an 'absolute maximum power avaliable' rear wheel figure is pointless.
i'm hoping that 160rwkw with whatever boost a T28BB will happily make, shouldn't stress the internals of the stock innards too much. reliability is the key.
if, the engine does expire, i'll build a stronger one with forged pistons etc;)
