hello, i looked in the faq and could not find an answer, so if anyone knows, please help. what , if any , parts are interchangeable between the ca18det and the ca18et? the reason i ask is because i'm trying to consider my options for rebuilding the ca18et that is in my 86 200sx. specifically, are the cams, crank, head, and exhaust manifold interchangeable? please help if you know, any answer is greatly appreciated, thanks

Cams no, Crank yes (and a good upgrade), Head yes (with a lot of work :( ), exhaust manifold no.
cool, thanks for the reply, anyone know of a good place to purchase aftermarket parts for ca18et?
The crank will not be a bolt on replacement. You will need the DET flywheel AND remanufacture the lower cambelt sprocket.
Also the water lines will have to be somewhat rerouted. Dosn't sound like much but when you take the head off you will see how many lines there are.
You will also have to plug the bolt holes for one of the belt tensioners. The DET uses 2 and the ET has only one. The reason you need to plug it is beacause it seems to be some kind of oil line behind it.
The ET head will fit straight on the DET block. Some peple say that the head bolt holes in the head will have to be redriled beacause the DET bolts have a larger diameter.
I didn't have to do this though.
Better just to get the DE/DET bottom end (the DET is better because you can ditch out your tods for the stronger ones) and get the benefit of a girdled bottom end.
