I haven't had any problems with my car as of yet other than the seized up turbo.... but i have noticed that when i get to around 3000 rpms the car actually has power (i can go up a hill without it loosing speed). now i don't know if this is from the flow charactoristics of the ca18 head or if the ecu is dumping more fuel but more power is made at 3000 rpms. now on a side note the car has no ass above 4500 rpms so i am still in the same boat with no power.

Yea, I've been running a seized turbo for well over a year... But yea. I'm hoping to get my car back and running so I can tell John to continue my T2 rebuild- upgrade and then Bart to continue my FMIC full kit ;)

does yours build power around 3 grand with no boost?

Hmmm...no, I dont think so. Its just all around slow. It pisses me off sometimes. But it is still fun in the rain! ;)

Have you guys bypassed the exhaust side of the turbo? I imagine that the turbine blade create a lot of resistance when they are just sitting there, and if you've seen the outlets of the spool and wastegate they are pretty skinny. I believe that the manifold off a ca20e will fit the turbo blocks so maybe thats an idea. Somebody back me up on this.
BTW, what does your exhaust sound like with a siezed turbo in the way?

When my car hada seized turbo and the clutch didn't act up as much I could chirp second. I didn't really have a power boost at 3000 but it had nothing at 4000+ My exhaust sounded muted.

Why would you do that? For all that trouble you might as well put another turbo on. It would yield a only slight gain compared to a seized turbo.

You could just remove the actuator arm from the swingvalve of the wastegate. This will let the wastegate stay open all the time and divert the exhaust around the seized turbo. That's assuming you haven't already done that though.

My timing belt is in... And yea I noticed a power surge at 3k. And more power overall. But thats because everything is in time now. :)
