Is this the stock VLSD or an aftermarket piece?

So this would be a VLSD R200 centre to go into an S12 R200, should be the same mods needed as an R180 VLSD to an s12 R180.
I hope you got the drivers side (right) CV with it, or at least the inner/diff side of the CV. For these VLSD the spline that goes in to the diff has an extra smaller diameter spline to operate the viscous mechanism.
With my R180 VLSD conversion into the s12 R180, I have had to get my s12 rhs CV shaft spline resplined to suit the VLSD inner spider bearing, so I can fit the VLSD inner bearing and bearing cup with the diff spline on the end of it.
Also for this conversion, you use the older diff center to crown wheel bolts, which are smaller, and get the crown wheel bolt holes in the VLSD diff centre `doweled/shimmed up` to suit these smaller bolts, then you should be away. All a bolt up from there.
Any engineering place with a lathe should be able to knock the dowel/shims up for you for not much.
I had to search a bit for a place to do my resplining, only a few places do it.
What part of England are you at? My pommy brother in law lives near Sheffield. He comes out to Aus every year just to annoy me, he he just kidding.

Just remembered the CVs are different on the s13 VLSD R200 than the VLSD R180. Creates a bit of a problem. The S13 R200 has a `stub` type spline with a flange on it to bolt to the CV, (rather than a complete CV with diff spline that slips into the diff). You`d need to change to the RHS s13 inner CV still, but you may need to get the s12 rhs CV shaft shortened or something.
There are a number of ways you could approach the problem, but any will require some machining/engineering. Whatever way you figure let us know how you go. The special inner small spline to operate the VLSD creates a problem. You need it, because if you just use RHS s12 standard CV there is nothing to operate the Viscous mechanism and the diff just operates as an open type one.
The Z31 300zx 88-89 turbos had a VLSD R200,(did you get these in England?) and the JDM R31 Skyline turbos also had VLSD. I think they used different CVs to the s13, which would be more similar to the S12 type, (might even be a straight bolt up to the s12 without needing to modify your RHS s12 one. But good luck finding one. We didn`t get hardly any 88-89 Z31turbo 300zx`s here in Australia, and as for the R31 Skyine turbo`s they were Japan only, and they are super old now for the Japanese market, so you don`t see many parts for them at the used import parts places.

So is the Z31 actually just a straight swap then (if it can be got)?
