addco sway bars
This thread was saved without dates. "Around Apr 2005" is estimated from neighbouring threads.
You can get them from your local Nissan dealer, or any authorized Addco dealer. Go to Addco's website for more info. I have the front Addco swaybar on my car, and yes, it helps.
LOL...My next suspension purchase will be that bar...
Jason (SLEEPNS12) just posted a link earlier today to an eBay auction where a guy is selling Addco Swaybars,.. might wanna check that out: http://www.club-s12.org/board/showthread.php?t=8263
hey what's the difference between the Urethane Kit and the Regular Kit??
is this the bushing kit??
Yes, it's the endlink bushings. When I got my bar, it came with urethane inner mount bushings, but rubber endlink bushings. I actually chose to stick with the rubber endlink bushings to soften up the front a bit. It seemed to help with turn in.
how do you change sway bars on our cars without misalignment? i read some where that it does mess it up.
i got the Addco rear sway bar, i think know i how to change it,1st lift the rear up,( bolt off the old and put in the new), is that it??
i really dont have an idea. is there anything i need to know??
call me safety freak, but i get an allignment done anytime i mess with suspension. im not sure on whether or not a sway bar can really mess it up, but alignments dont hurt anything but the wallet.
I have front and rear, it is basically a bolt up and should not affect alignment but I do agree with getting it checked (can't ever do that too much). The bushings will have to be reused to hold the bar to the chassis as the supplied ones will not work. Just be careful to not break any bolts in the front (because that is kind of a bitch). I got mine through Summit Racing. The front bars are supposably different between pre and post 86 models, as there are two different diameters, but I have an 85 bar off my first car and an 87 off of the car the Addco bar is on and they are the same size and shape. The fronts were clearanced priced as I remember, and I think the part number for 86-88 was 777 and there were about 20 still available in 2003. The rear I think was something like 395 and it was still a stock item, being the same for the Z31's.
One more piece of advice, although I don't know how feasible this would be without a lift. The Sway-Bar (Anti-Sway Bar) is actually unloaded when the suspension is loaded. So if you jack up the car and rest the tires on large bricks or something stable, It would be alot easier to change and better for the bushings, since you're torquing down the bolts with the Bar in the normal rest position.
