so can "we" (anyone with an s12) do it?? what do i mean? LOOK!

Yes, you're looking at an S13 w/ a VH41DE in it...imagine the possibilities (other than going forever x2 broke!) That honestly looks like a better fit than the VG30DETT in the s12....

Damn i've been looking for that pic for ages...seen it a long time ago but never found it again. Yeah if a VG30DETT fits, anything will fit in a S12....V8s are teh cool.

I think I've read somewhere that the VH45DE is 3" wider than the VH41DE so it would be even tighter or not fit .

what is the diameter of the VH45DE Pistons? basically, can the VG30 be bored to a VH41/45DE piston?

Joel07date not saved · #5

I think you would want to bore the VG30 to fit VG33 pistons, I've seen that done a couple times.

That is freakin awesome though! Wonder what the weight is on one of those motors? Does it have a manual tranny available? Sorry, don't know much about these motors...

i dunno much about that V8 either...

I am looking at going to the VG33 internals, just figured if i could have the 4.5L pistons, on the 33 Stroke, id have some crazy torque numbers. then i just gotta increase my rpm range (from there!). reason being, by stroking, and boring, you decrease the redline. im going to get a full engine balance, but thats still only like 6000 at best. i want 7-7500 redline!!!

Joel07date not saved · #7

I think the stroke is the same on the VG33, it's just the bore that's different. So by having a bigger bore with the same stroke, you actually make it easier for the motor to rev. I don't think VH45 pistons would actually buy you anything unless they were domed or something like that. There's a guy on the board (his name escapes me at the moment) that has done all this and is currently putting together his VG33. His goal is to have the fastest N/A S12.

And what'll really need to be done to increase the redline that much is a bunch of head work and some big cams. You're on the right track though... ;)

Ha, found it. His name is Blinocac200sx, and the website is:

Might help you out a little...

I found the site with the VH41DE in it. http://members.iinet.net.au/~dcollins/silfiniti/

Looking at all those wires makes me want to puke.

Hehe it looks very similar to how my SR looked during the week i spent wiring it up...wires look scary but with workshop manual in hand they can be defeated.

Just noticed the WA number plate, it's an aussie car...the iinet site also gives that away now i look at it....ah the joys of being slow on the uptake :P

Haha i got lazy and had it done for me, i hate wiring!
