i think my trans is on its last legs. i was wondering what vehicles have the same trans or a compatable one that i can get at a junkyard or used.
are our bellhousings removable from our transmissions so we can mix and match? (i am new to nissan)
people keep mentioning an old site, is it accesable?
Your car has what is known as a 71C or C-type transmission. The C was used in non-turbo 300zxs (Z31, possibly Z32 aswell) as well as the 240sx. You can use the transmission out of either one of those, but you will have to change the bellhousing. There is an active thread in the VG30 section on transmissions. You might want to look it up.
it would be easiest if you could find a direct match for your transmission out of the same year of the vehicle. BUT, you can do the z31, and 240 one, it just requires you to swap the bellhousing. if you should have any questions in the process of doing any tranny stuff, just get ahold of me..ive swapped transmissions in my SE already.
