Actually, you don't want to use any of the 280Z springs. You need springs from a 280ZX. Just to get technical about it. LOL

Yes. The 280Z had the same body as the 240Z and 260Z. It was produced from '75 - '79, in the U.S. anyway.

Really? I thought the 280z and 280zx has basically the same bodies (different from the 240/260 and apart from a few minor things) but the earlier z had the L28 with a carb and the 280zx was L28E powered.
Could be wrong tho i'm no Z expert.

Actually the 280z was fuel injected. Other than that it was the same as the old 240/260. But the 280zx brought alot of changes to the platform. UBI the 70-79 240/260/280z chassis code is S30, and the 80-83 280zx chassis code is S130.

Fair enough, i'm not sure we even go them in oz but there certainly aren't many around. The Z car was never really that popular after the 240 or 260 here. The Z31 is even less common than the S12. The Z32 is reasonably common but they are mostly grey import Fairlady Z twin turbos not the locally delivered version.

Heh, I'd say there was a 280Z :-D
280Z was also a lot heavier than the 240Z. Add a zero to the number designation of an early Z car and you have a good estimate of its curb weight. My car weighed ~2920lbs with me in it as I drove over the scale (~180lb driver, then, and this was before the turbo). There are other detail differences, the fuel injected L28 as mentioned, factory air conditioning optional, huge ugly 5mph bumpers in the USA, R200 differential standard in manual transmission models (R180 came in the 240Z). The 280Z was still an S30 chassis, the S130 280ZX introduced in 1979 was all-new underneath, though it shared many visual cues.
Perhaps you are confused because Nissan continued to sell the car as a 240 or 260 in other markets, i.e. other markets may not have recieved the 2.8L engine? The 280Z was the US market Z-car from 1975 to 1978.

Has anybody CONFIRMED that you can use 280ZX front springs, has anybody actually put them on rather than just have read it from somewhere? Because the 280ZX front suspension is NOTHING like the 200SX front suspension. In fact the S12 has the exact same front suspension as the Z31 300ZX. I've owned an S12 and Z31 so I know, never bothered switching front springs though.
