Hey guyz,

Me fuel guage sometimes when i started it wud drop right off. then later come back up.
BUT NOW IT HAS STAYED DEAD FOR THE PAST 2 WEEKS.
I checked the ohm'age' of what the fuel pump is putting out and that is all fine. All fuses are intact. ripped me dash out and so loose looms or anythin,
i just dont get if something was gone or broken it wudnt have slowly gone up and dpwn the died later on.

Also about the same time my interoir light dont work anymore too!!!!
again, fuses are all good etc.

Any ideas?? Has it happened to u maybe/?? lol

Thanks,

Maybe your S12 is possesed... about 1/3 of problems associated with an S12 are due to the fact that they are possesed

could be a short somewhere from the sender to the gauge

my gague reads full as slightly under 3/4 and empty as peged past the E for like 20 miles, my friends s13 has the same intermintant problem it will read full when empty and empty when full, it jumps around alot i think nissan just screwed up on our fuel gagues

Are we talking about digital or analog gauges? I've never had any problems with my analog ones.

check for corrosion near the sender itself

More than likely it's probably the sender or a bad ground

Fuel gauge sending unit is dead. Its located in the fuel tank next to the fuel pump, you'll need to replace the whole thing.

Possesed- I think so!

But i have just replaced my Fuel pump and the frikin mechanic that did it just ripped out the fuel pump and the sender unit and replaced it with the second hand one which i asked him not to use!!!

So this is definatly my problem!!!>>>>???????
If so, i will rip it out and put me pump in my old sender usnit which i knew worked!

ARE THERE ANY THINGS I SHUD LOOK OUT FOR OR THINGS THAT CAN SCREW UP WITH TAKING OUT AND INSTALLING THE FUEL PUMP IN AND OUT OF THE SENDER UNIT?????

tHANKS guyz, u help much me it.... lol :0

Pay attention to the carbon or plated resistor bar in which the float lever rides against. See if it has wear marks or breaks in the circuit.

EDIT : Try not to touch the resistor bar itself, you could accidentally rub or scratch off the plating.
