does anyone know if it's possible to stick the 1ggte into the s12, on a low budget scale? a twin turbo, 6 cylinder would be nice. :-P

1ggte

You can stick anything in a S12 if you try hard enough, the 1GGTE should fit just as well as a RB motor. I hear they have fairly strong bottom ends, but thats about all i know. With rebuilds they are capable of 300kw but then again not many decent turbo engines won't make that much with full aftermarket internals.
Are you talking about a 1JZ-GTE? The little brother of the 2JZ-GTE in the TT Supra? If so, then no. WAAAY too long. It's basically the same dimentions as the 2JZ, and having worked on and even pulled and reinstalled one of those twice, I can tell you it will NOT fit, at all, unless you cut off your front clip and make your own tubular chassis.
Or is there such a thing as 1GGTE???

You betcha.
2.0 Litre Inline-6 with twin turbos. It was the base model engine for the overseas MKIII Supra and the Soarer. It's not the greatest engine in the world, but it's pretty robust and there's a lot of aftermarket for it in Australia where it ends up swapped into a lot of 1970's Toyotas.
But it's gonna need lots of customization for mounting, much like or more than that VG30ET project.

Exactly. And who wants a Toyota engine in a Nissan, really? :p hehe
There is a guy in oz who is looking for a home for his worked 1GGTE or 1GGZE (i don't remember which, i think he mentioned supercharger so he might be using the earlier motor). He has considered a few cars including the S12 and R30. I've given some advice, i'll let you know what he does. He doesn't want to do the normal thing and plant it in a celica or in an early supra, the S12 weighs less (in base model form) so he's liking the idea, i'll let you know what he does.
Either way there is no way it would turn out low budget. I though mine was and it is pretty low budget compared to others but still quite high.
I would dissagree, this guy is from a forum that is 90% DIY, wierd engine swaps are common and no one likes spending money. I can't see why it wouldn't be low budget.
The budget lowers as the DIY'er is more expert.
I bet the people on those forums can do things none or few of us can do, especially in the areas of welding. Working with chassis is a whole lot different than machining small parts or welding up some small tubes.
They vary in skill but forum members include anyone from the likes of me to those who do development for large workshops like Nizpro, APS etc. You don't have to be a pro though experience with metal working will always help, my dad can do pretty much anything asked (he's an aircraft structural fitter), and i have mates whom would have no troubles completing the swap either (FLY PSI is one of them, as is another mate who works with metal as his trade as well). I guess i'm a bit spoilt, i can do almost anything i want to on my car and if i need fab done i can get it done easily. However if these facilities were not available i'm very confident i could do all the fab myself after some lessons and alot of practice.
