thought I should drain and replace before it gets really cold insteado f just topping it up.

I'm STOOPID so can somebody tell me how do I draint he coolant system?

or can I just unplug fromt he resevoir, let it all pour out...then plut it back in and fill up?

There should be a draincock on the bottom of the radiator near the lower radiator hose. IIRC, it has a small piece of hose that runs down so you can just stick a drain pan underneath, open the radiator cap, and open the draincock, and it should drain just about everything out of the system.

also get a can of radiator flush and follow the directions on it. also make sure that you top off your cooling system let it run, turn on the heater and keep adding water till you think it can't hold any more. there should also be a bleed screw to let air out. while you are at it you may want to do new hoses, thermostat and a new radiator cap

The drain plug on the radiator is oppisite the lower rad. hose on the drivers side lower end. Atleast on mine anyways. Also, there is a drain plug on the engine block too, which you need to drain as well. If you don't you will only drain whats in the rad. The engine block plug is on the exhaust side of the block( drivers side) on the side close to the back of the block

You might want to take the rad off the car and flush it through with a hose pipe. Do this from both end until it runs clear. I think nissan say that the temp sensor doubles up as a bleed point for the cooling system if you have any bother with it when filling up.

Well, that pretty much covers all of it, Everything I was gonna say. So I'll leave you with this piece of advice. If your coolant was dark and your heater core took a dump, You most likely have alot of sh!t in your cooling system, so it would be a really good idea to flush it. But the downside would be your radiator could also take a dump on you. I say it's 50/50 So it looks like you're damned if you do, damned if you don't. Man, I never have any good news for you. Sorry Indy.

to drain the block completely, you must remove the bolt on the hot side, under the 3rd and 4th cylinder's exhaust port. there's only one bolt there, so remobe it and all the crap in the bottom the block will drain out. i did it to my spare CA20E last night, it was all brown and blackish.

thats it.

Radiator. Then top off the resivour to the full cold line. you may have to do this a few times as the system bleeds itself.
