my rear brakes are seized, but only the right one. i jsu tgot a new e brake is this it? what can i do?

Indecisivedate not saved · #2

the e-brake shouldn't do it.

check the caliper.

/\shdate not saved · #3

yea the calipers stuck
can't i just pump the brake a lot of something , i dunno. i'm not taking it into a shop

Indecisivedate not saved · #4

yea if it's the caliper it's definitely not the e-brake

and no, pumping the brake wont' do it.

you'll need to remove it..and rebuild it. or buy a new one.

are you sure it's seized. When I did mine, i thought the same thing, turned out that the piston itself had unthreaded so I was able to rethread it in. Still had to take the thing off to do it but....... Dont know if that helps or not.

There is a spring that pulls the pads back off the disk when you yank on the e-brake. there should also be a little thing that sticks out that looks like its attached to the mechanisim that the spring is tensioned on. I just banged on the thing that sticks out. and the caliper released with each hit. but every case is different. plus there was no real good way of explaning this.

IF it has something to do you with you screwing with the ebrake cable in the first place. I would look to see if it is in correct adjustment.

i have looked at it and cannot figure out how, i had a shop do the e brake so i'll tkae it back there and make em look at it

The rears are..well...junk! They are a rather poor design, and most people have run into, or will run into problems because of them. The slides on mine have been seized since I bought it, and neither rear caliper worked at all when I bought it. The rear calipers do require more maintenace because of the fact that they are only used a fraction of the time compared to the fronts, and because they are not great to begin with. The rebuilding of the rear calipers is the best method to get them to work, and periodical maintenance is key to keep them working...

God I wish i had drums on the back!
