I am hoping someone could please confirm whether or not S12 and S13 outer tie rod ends are the same. I know that S13/14 and S15 are the same (except NZ new S13) but am not sure about the S12.
Reason. I have just purchased aftermarket inner Tie rods in prep for the S13 front coil over convertion, I know I need the rod shortened but was wondering if I can reuse my S12 outer ends or whether I have to find S13 replacements. I also understand I will need to replace castor rods with that of an R31 skyline. Is this accurate?
Thanks in advance.

Tie Rod Question
This thread was saved without dates. "Around Jun 2005" is estimated from neighbouring threads.
there is a thread with many pictures that Nebs put together the other week about his susp mods. i suggest you draw on it for ideas.
i'm planning the same conv. myself.
This one? http://www.club-s12.org/board/showthread.php?t=7791
Cheers, I have read that post a few times and just wanted to confirm whether the S12 tie rod ends are the same as the S13 ends. In Nebs write up, he has used S13 ends - I was hoping to get away with reusing the S12 ones. Does anyone know?
Thanks
S13 and S12 tie rod ends are different, the taper on the balljoint of the S12 part is slightly different (i think) and the pin that goes through the steering knuckle isn't long enough.
Cheers, I kinda predicted that but thought it was worth asking..
Thanks a lot

i measured all this up the other week and i can confirm that s12 tie rod ends will NOT work with s13/14/15 hubs.
nebs are you using s113 tie rod ends and rack ends on the s12 rack, or just the s13 tie rod ends on modified s12 rack ends (re-threaded)??
I'm using the whole S13 steering arms straight on the S12 rack, they are a tad to long for S12 control arms so i added some thread so that i could screw the tie rod ends on further and therefore make them shorter. Now i'm using S13 arms so that threading is no longer needed.
sweet!! an s12 p/steer rack is the final piece of the puzzle!!
hmm... i wonder if i can get a reco'd one with warranty.
parts needed:
s13 hubs
s13 tie-rod ends
s13 rack ends
s12 p/steer rack
s13 lower control arms
r31 castor rods
anything i've missed??
the real drama here is that all info isn't in one place. it's spread over 20 different threads!!
