btw the wheels that i bought are NEW aka never used......which makes me a much more sad panda

What u mean? NIB is tits! haha

also found out that my CAS is toast and Im not getting spark past the dizzy.
MaxpowJun 26, 2011, 2:52 pm · #1002

That's not CAS. CAS would prevent spark from leaving the coil in the first place. Your issue isn't cam angle sensor related.

tdawgS12Jun 26, 2011, 3:35 pm · #1003

new dizzy cap and rotor, and now, apparently, all is well
still gonna go to ngk wires though, once i can order them

Stopped by 2 of the local PickNPulls for misc. Bits and pieces.  I found a 1980 200sx and about 5 240sx, & 2 280z.  Only managed to come out of there with a good sized handful of bolts, washers and screws!  :glarestraight: the workers said those cars never sit very long!

I didn't see a single CA motor! But there were VGs everywhere!

ProlowtoneJun 27, 2011, 2:35 am · #1005

Cleaned around my engine bay AGAIN. Started working on the CADET :) Get some Legal papers signed tomorrow then Ca20 goes to aircare... maybe, Might go for my license to :P then off to the Kiss concert at 6pm :D

not for this commuter, yet!  I can see in a couple of years doing a swap, but it'd be a SR20DET.  But my heart is with the 510s, so not sure i'll ever do a swap.  Only time will tell!

Replaced injector number 2.
I love KA injectors. 5 minutes, only needs two screwdrivers.

newby200sxJun 27, 2011, 6:43 pm · #1010

fought with the engine all day it won still wont start
man its hot as dick outside

tdawgS12Jun 27, 2011, 10:38 pm · #1011

started her up. realized my tach and speedo aren't working. panicked.

JayJun 27, 2011, 11:06 pm · #1012

Digidash?
Normal.... hit it. Or do as the FSM states.
Tap it with the butt of a screwdriver.

tdawgS12Jun 27, 2011, 11:24 pm · #1013

unfortunately no digi dash, i think i snapped the cable last night and just didn't notice til today, which i weird, i could swear it was working til i got home. looking for a replacement tomorrow.

AthensJun 27, 2011, 11:33 pm · #1014

I don't think following the factory service manual is the best idea. First it brings you in by telling you to hit the digidash with a screwdriver, but then it tells you to take a hit from the charcoal canister. For "testing purposes."

met up with another member (Redneck) who's house/car I have been driving passed for the last 4+ months, long before I got my own s12, wondering who owned the mk1 turbo car parked in front of the house.  decided to stop today when I saw the SE in front of it after seeing it twice in town.  It was just by chance that the SE was out front as it's usually in the garage.

Drove my car all day. got some new wipers and took off to aircare and beat the heck out of it. You could triple my emissions results and i would still pass XD. Also got papers signed to sell my house and rocked out all night at the KISS concert in Abbotsford BC.

silvertonJun 28, 2011, 11:29 am · #1018

sam31183Jun 28, 2011, 1:42 pm · #1019

Not really a turbo anymore ;) lol.
mentalxpreshunJun 28, 2011, 4:06 pm · #1021

tdawgS12Jun 29, 2011, 11:35 pm · #1022

got an oil change (no space to do it myself) and for once all would appear to be well. except my tachometer.

drummingpariahJun 30, 2011, 1:49 pm · #1023

Learned that the 1986 ca18et body wiring harness is significantly different from the 1986 ca20e wiring harness. Poo.

silvertonJul 1, 2011, 3:38 pm · #1026

I put it on ramps...   my MMR passenger side steering rack bushing should be here sometime within the next couple hours.

ProlowtoneJul 4, 2011, 4:21 pm · #1027

Started my car, warmed it up and advanced the timing on my ca20 to 10 degrees. Drove it around my complex and it seams to have a tad more torque

Colonel GustardJul 4, 2011, 4:42 pm · #1028

lol 10 degrees, no wonder ca20's suck, i got my VG at 25 and it loves it. i unloaded groceries from it and let my mom take it to the store

ProlowtoneJul 4, 2011, 4:51 pm · #1029

lol stock is 4 on this thing!

Low594Jul 4, 2011, 5:21 pm · #1030

10* or 4*?  the sticker on my hood says 0*?  Mines a Cali Mk1 CA20E, maybe thats the difference.  Altho, when i got it, it was at 20 and seemed to run fine, but it did end up with more power when it was adjusted down to 0*!

silvertonJul 4, 2011, 5:50 pm · #1031

ignition timing is 0* on a ca20?  crazy.

AthensJul 4, 2011, 6:06 pm · #1032

I just turn the distrubutor all the way to the side so the ca feels like it has at least a little power. May pull it and advance a tooth for even more timing, but its at like 27 or something right now. Runs like a champ

backwoodsbuilderJul 5, 2011, 12:13 pm · #1033

started mine up parked out back next to the 84 hatch then went in and posted them on craigs for sale along with my 2000 chevy truck.Hate to sell it

rollingstockJul 5, 2011, 9:35 pm · #1034

started my ka s12 up. backed it up 30ft, cracked the windows to let it air out..

push my non-running ca18 notch forward so i could clean it out. got almost everything out. hopfuly the seller wont back out!

ProlowtoneJul 5, 2011, 9:43 pm · #1035

I put on my 5mm spacers in the rear, then did a small peel out trying to back my car over the big hump and into the garage.. Dual tire fire?? or transfer of traction? Didnt think the ca20 could do it in the dry

seishukuJul 5, 2011, 10:26 pm · #1036

I could get both going on an open, if the weight bias was just right.

DeezusJul 6, 2011, 5:37 am · #1037

I think both always spin in reverse

KustamogenJul 6, 2011, 12:51 pm · #1038

fixed a coolant line....again....for the 3rd time....wonder why it keeps blowing :(

new rear brake pads as well! w00t

I have gotten the rear of my car to slide out when doing a brake stand at a red light or in a parking lot.

Got spark? Got fuel?

I drove mine 45 miles home on 5 dollars somehow. Still running great, just needs an oil change sometime soon.
WonderingravenJul 6, 2011, 7:15 pm · #1042

ProlowtoneJul 6, 2011, 7:19 pm · #1043

Wish mine ran on cash!  I have to trade it for fuel for my car to run...  45 miles sounds about right though!  I get 23'ish MPG
WonderingravenJul 6, 2011, 8:56 pm · #1045

working on it now, someone also to point it out, isn't this block supposed to be grounded down? there is no ground wire from the block to the
I'm trying to figure out why now the battery is draining too quick all of a sudden.

rollingstockJul 6, 2011, 9:47 pm · #1046

found out my passager window is missing the track thingy

WonderingravenJul 6, 2011, 9:52 pm · #1047

Forgot to mention I did mess with the Idle Control screws and nothing =( so I'm back to square one of figuring this out.

MaxpowJul 6, 2011, 10:05 pm · #1048

Forgot to mention the whole exciting part of my adventure. My strut rod retaining nut stripped out and the car was just flopping all over the place. Had to hit the Ace hardware and do a parking-lot fix. Drives great now :).
