Umai NaaThis is my 12/2000 Holden Commodore VX SS.

I picked it up almost 2 weeks ago for $16,500AUD.

It features the almighty (LOL) LS1 Gen 3, and 6spd Tremec.

It also has a set of 18s, full dual 2.5in exhaust and headers, aftermarket engine covers, factroy sunroof, and the equivilant of Pontiac GTO taillights.

GM should have brought it over as the Holden Monaro.  The front end looks much better than the GTOs, and they wouldn't have had all the old timers bitching that its not a real goat.  They also should have given us a 4 door option.

DraconisGawd dang... I love the FC.

Buy one! They aren't expensive!
Umai NaaJun 6, 2006, 5:33 am · #54

A Monaro of the same vintage usually goes for over twice the price I payed for the 4-door!!

The 4-doors don't normally come with those taillights (I was given the original ones when I bought the car, though). The colour mine is, isn't very common for this model either.

Dude, as far as daily drivers go, I'd take a 4 door over a coupe anyday.  There's just not a single 4 door, RWD, manual gearbox in the US to consider for a daily.

99.99999% of them are automatics.  100% of them are old and in need of work.  Not what I'd call a daily driver.  Project car, sure.

BMW 3 Series? You can get used ones for pretty cheap.
New car, sub-30k, would be an RX-8.

SheppS12 Check it out... bet youd love to see more of these in the USA and well all of Nth America really...

i tried long and hard to find one of those that was in decent shape when i was living there, i had to settle w/a mitso panel van. lol

SheppS12Jun 6, 2006, 9:39 pm · #61

it runs, when i fix it, its not registard at the moment, its not road worthy, but its at my grandmas and we have a "race track" in one of her paddocks, its just a simple circle, but its fun and a challange at 60kph ... the callifornian is a model type of moke, generally in bright colors with white "sunraiser" steel wheels and a 1275 engine was introduced in 73 or 74
Mokes are rare here, and a road going example will set you back about $5k the one u see before you, is worth $2k and the list of reguired work is longer than i care to list...

Infiniti G35 sedan.  Used ones are sub 20k these days and from what I've seen are mostly in perfect shape since its not exactly a car someone buys to beat on.

Anyways the car i'm driving daily right now, 1988 Nissan Pintara, it's in pretty good nick (you can see the only rust in the car in the photo), i got it for $300 as a drift hack for the gf, all we've done to it so far is remove the aircon, replace the water pump and about 10 minutes ago i put a rather stiff pair of front springs in.
Future plans are welding the diff, stripping the sound deadening and putting in a CA18DE+T.
Should cost around $800ish all up .

Funny thing is that the Commodore was never made in two door form until they decided to make a two door version for the sydney motorshow.
It was so well recieved they rushed it into production and there you have the Monaro.
The Monaro has slightly different front styling to the commodore and by and large i think it's a big bland bastard of a thing.  Unless you get the HSV GTO (was out well before the US GTO though), it's sexy.
That shape has been superceded now, are they going to make a VE Monaro Umai?

Could have gotten one yesterday for a case of beer but i missed out.

Lots of torque, 0 traction and a low as diff.
Fun/scary haha.
