Johnny_boi just playin the money you spend on a getting a sr (what like 2 grand for a stock motor. than about another G for power parts) you could have a kick ass ka-t on your hands, on good internal, lightweight everything. about 1 grand just in the bottom end, some nice cams and youll be eating sr's for dinner

No offence but this is not true.  Actualy go and price what it would cost Do a KAT your alot better off doing a SR. I know this because i own a s14 and threw alot of research decided on a sr20det. That was 2 years ago and i LOVE my SR.

Rebuild kit
300zx tranny
300zx Adapter plate
Injectors
manifold
Turbo
exhaust
intake
bov
wastegate
Random hoses and couplers
fuel pump
intercooler

you got about atleast 600 bucks in your tranny upgrade not including flywheel and clutch...... stock ka tranny can take about 250whp with easy. at 200whp if your
"mobbing it" you will have problems!

GO SR or NA KA
DeezusApr 8, 2010, 3:35 am · #52

im goin sr for sure, just tryin to get everything else cleaned up first, and when i get ready to swap im ganna turbo the KA and run the shit out of it until it blows

NissanNateApr 8, 2010, 3:44 am · #53

Dont blow the KA sell it! make some cash for SR upgrades

If you get a s13 sr re torque the head studs before swap. Just some friendly advice

DeezusApr 8, 2010, 3:46 am · #54

im blowing this KA as soon as i get the chance... i have a personal grudge.

GO SR or NA KA

Or do a Ka-T With a z32 trans.

The only differences between an SR trans and a KA trans (Minus the obvious bellhousing) is 5th gear (If you got one from an S13 NON turbo, Or 180sx Silvia Q). The SR20DE final is .838, vs the SR20DET & KA24DE Trans have the .759 final gears.
ArroApr 8, 2010, 3:49 am · #56

What's the story behind the LeBaron? Turbo II?

DeezusApr 8, 2010, 3:49 am · #57

well the s15 sr has a weak ass 6spd

Above if you notice i said 300zx trans aka z32 and sr transmission is alot stronger than the KA, ratios may be close but they are definitely NOT the same internals.
DeezusApr 8, 2010, 3:53 am · #59

^ im pretty sure the SR and KA trans are the same except with slightly different internals, you can swap bellhousings and they will work KA> SR or SR> KA

@ arro: non turbo with a big gay ricer wing and knock off wheels that look like oem evo wheels

ArroApr 8, 2010, 3:59 am · #60

ahhhhh blowz. Oh well.

Im running about 280whp approximate on my sr, and my friends who drive there car's easier than i do mine have na Ka's and have nothting but problems (steve on tranny number 2 and joe is on tranny number 3)

sr's are known to have good trannys and Ka's are known for shit tranns unless your running stock. Now you got me interested im going to have to tear down one of each LOL
ArroApr 8, 2010, 4:13 am · #62

People on KA-t.org might have different views about the KA trannies. I don't see Nissan doing things all that different for either powertrain.

NissanNateAbove if you notice i said 300zx trans aka z32 and sr transmission is alot stronger than the KA, ratios may be close but they are definitely NOT the same internals.

I retract my statement on the Z31/32 transmissions as my previous assumption was completely off, I thought the Z31 87+ Turbo trans (Not z32, that was actually a typo), bolted on. But A little more research and that is not the case....

HOWEVER... The SR Vs. KS trans Part numbers are:

92 KA24DE - FS5W71C
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v122/Phreakonaleash55/KAFAST.jpg)
92 SR20DET - FS5W71C
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v122/Phreakonaleash55/SRFAST.jpg)

Same internal part numbers are everywhere... But with following suffixes differing here and there (With who knows what that really means, maybe revisions? dunno)

I agree with you Nate. I might have to inspect them side by side myself also
NissanNateApr 8, 2010, 5:09 am · #64

Yup i was doing some research at the same time.  s13 and ka trannys are the same ( i was Wrong) but i did read the s14 tranny is different and stronger than the s13 tranny? Do you have that break down? You got me really curious now!

Only once you hit the S15. The S14 trans pic is identical to the S13 SR pic I put above.

Edit: I found a single circlip that's different
I'm sure there's more... But my head is starting to hurt

Here's a pic of a 94 SR

I've also been doing some digging, and aside from one or two insignificant details (a clip here, a bolt or nut there), the SR and the KA use the same trans, regardless if it's in an S13 or S14. Which is what I thought to begin with, which is why I have been telling you guys for awhile now to refer to them as the S13/S14 transmission, and not the "C" trans (which is the S12 "C" trans).

But in terms of internals, they are the same. It may be that, like with many things SR-related, SR lovers* hype shit up without any real facts.

*statement is in no way an indication that I dislike or disapprove of SR engines, but only reflects my sentiments of fanboi misinformation.

just do, fused positive to the battery,  which is gonna be like the white wire off the clip

then switched ground using the black wire

or tap into a fuse for your ig key on, like your clock or something
DeezusApr 18, 2010, 2:29 am · #75

i dont have a clock anymore, but will it still work if i wire it to the clock fuse? lol

DeezusMay 13, 2010, 1:44 am · #78

didnt know i had a security system lol i only have 1 lock at the moment lol i tried finding out where it was mounted cause it has a metal bracket on the harness side of the plug but i cant seem to find it. i guess ill just mess around with it once i have my car together

can i put the probe for my coolant guage where the arrows or pointing. like just tap in to that. if not where should i put it

fuck windshields
but at least its apart
(http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk206/jimbobnorton/ea76d8ed.jpg)

tapped into my tach wire and done.

ok, my guage lights used to flicker when i drove my car. i figured it wouldve been a loose wire. but i now realize my cluster has a circuit board? on the back and in some places its not toching the back of the cluster but its all 1 peice, could this be why my lights flicker? they would flicker from off to on, and spend most of the time off

SlickS12May 16, 2010, 7:28 pm · #81

Something I've noticed with the dash lights, if your headlight switch isn't in 100% working order that connection could be the problem.  I have to twist a little back on the knob to get a good connection.  If that's the problem it might be hard to replace but maybe rebuild??

FUCK MY LIFE!!!!

I thought i finished all the wireing, turned the key and NOTHING! My lights came on, judith told me my door was open, lights came on, when i went to start the car, all i got was a click, and i dont think i even heard the fuel pump turn on.

The more i think about the wiring the closer i get to loading the gun.

Im terrible at this wiring stuff, someone explain it to me step by step....

BattleFairyJun 14, 2010, 5:54 pm · #91

i love the hood

MaxpowJun 14, 2010, 5:56 pm · #92

Hood looks sick.

vegasS12Jun 14, 2010, 7:05 pm · #93

you should do your whole front end like the hood hahah

David BJun 14, 2010, 7:19 pm · #94

a click? fro the starter or the car, generally a click from the starter is a bad starter or not enough continuity between your ground or power source

make sure your battery connections are clean on the starter and that the motor is properly grounded to the chassis.

you can always run your fuel pump off a switch also.

DeezusJun 15, 2010, 4:34 am · #95

i cant believe im this fuckin retarded... i got all worked up over it.. 4 plugs... and it turns over, but it wouldnt start.. checked and im not getting fuel, the pupmp wasnt turning on... never wired the power wire. did that, bam i got fuel. still wont start, so i dont think im getting spark. and i think its because i may have forgotten to do my ecu ground...

EDIT: my car is anything but clean, its got like HUGE chunks of paint taken out, i pulled on my drivers side fender yesterday because my door was rubbing it. and i ripped the fuckin fender off.... fml but its cool zipties will fix it and youll never know.

schassisownerJun 15, 2010, 12:10 pm · #96
