If you missed the end of the white notch. It looks like this.

Here's the build thread for the new car. I actually got this car quite a while back. Just after totalling the Silver car. It was donated to me from a member here on C-S12. Big thanks to Johnny for that. I'm glad to finally be putting it to use.

Here it is when I first got it.

Very clean rolling shell. Like a canvas ready for a great work of art. Well the art never happened. I got everything swapped over from the silver car but ran into a wiring issue and then ran out of time. The house where all this was happening belonged to a friend of mine and he was moving so all my stuff had to go ASAP.
The car was stored at Jason's (sideways_s12) place for a long time. Big thanks to him for that. While there I sold the CA18DET motorset out of it that was from the Silver car. I regret that a lot but I was very short on cash and wasnt sure where all this car stuff was going.
I moved into the house I'm in now about a year ago and up until now my focus has been on the Notch instead of this Hatch. Well now that the Notch got stuffed into the wall its time for this car to be built.

The Plans:
CA20ET which currently is still in the Notch and runs pretty good
Stripped and stitch welded chassis
Install the roll cage (big thanks to Sterling and HillKill for the cage, check out Eric Hill at http://erichillracing.webs.com or stalk him on Facebook)
The whole thing painted white
Source an extra CA20 longblock or two incase it blows up
Pray for money

Bout time lol like I have room to talk. So is this goning to be a ground up build since it's already stripped out?

Jeremy ADec 4, 2012, 1:20 am · #3

Shell looks great, and dude, if you want a wrenching buddy, I'd be so down helping out with the build.

WonderingravenDec 4, 2012, 9:34 am · #4

Can't wait to see this on the track next year.

IggyEGuanaDec 4, 2012, 11:37 am · #5

its kinda re-stripped out. cuz it was almost completely stripped when we got it and then we put all the silver car's parts into it. now I pulled that stuff back out and stripped it a bit further.

Jeremy is ur number the same?

Next thing to do is remove the rest of the sound deadening and then remove the seam seal to prep for stitch welding

RedneckDec 4, 2012, 12:44 pm · #6

Been waiting for you to start this thread! And yeah that shell is about as stripped out as they get haha. How come your painting it white? Faded red doesn't float your boat? I still got worries about the ca20et standing up to the abuse but like most cs12 members your ballin on a budget and you just gotta work with what you got I suppose. I will be praying for money for you if that makes you feel any better : p.

WonderingravenDec 4, 2012, 1:00 pm · #7

Also if you need any one else to give any hand, hit me up as well. I've love to help regardless I live across town.

IggyEGuanaDec 4, 2012, 10:50 pm · #8

haha yes very budget and i wanna do super silhouette livery when/if I hit FD so the cars gotta be white and then it can get vinyls for the lightning bolts. i dont really want to be doing a ca20et for pro am but ya its all budget. if i run into some cash and a cheap/free z32 transmission then i'll do the vh45

RB25sx - SLPRDec 4, 2012, 11:23 pm · #9

So stoked on this.

sideways_s12Dec 5, 2012, 10:00 pm · #10

I'll keep an eye out on the trans would it matter if it needs a rebuild? just want to know so i know what to stay away from....?

IggyEGuanaDec 5, 2012, 10:55 pm · #11

theres a price for everything so if it needed to be rebuilt its just gotta be cheap. going rate on a useable junkyard z32 trans is $300

sideways_s12Dec 5, 2012, 11:34 pm · #12

ok I'll keep my eyes  open...

If you need someone to watch you and learn things let me know :nerdystraight: lol

darryn.Dec 11, 2012, 6:48 pm · #16

Awesome stuff man! Will be watching this thread. We just finished seam welding and tubbing mine so I feel your pain with the deadener and seam sealer, not a fun job at all! Building a car from ground up on limiting funds is testing at times, just got to tell your self over and over that the wait will be worth it haha :P good luck with it all man!

IggyEGuanaDec 12, 2012, 4:41 pm · #17

thanks! your car kicks ass. repping broke ass s12 drifting in AUS.

My first real christmas tree. I grew up with a plastic tree

I got the chassis stripped completely down now. removed the seam sealer in the engine bay where i'm gonna stitch it. just gotta hit it with the wire wheel and then i can start welding. I'm gonna do the underside in the wheel wells and where the frame rails connect to the floor pan as well. not sure if i'm gonna stitch the whole thing out from struts to shocks but we'll see.

also you need to teach m how to weld...lol
RoofDec 17, 2012, 6:46 pm · #19

Hey do you still do turbo rebuilding iggy?  I was just curious because I was thinking of purchasing this s15 turbo for 120 bucks that has a little oil on the exhaust wheel.

IggyEGuanaDec 18, 2012, 1:45 am · #20

not as a business no. S15 turbo is ball bearing which is not rebuildable anyway

8SixS12Dec 19, 2012, 6:14 am · #21

@ Roof - I wouldn't recommend that turbo if your hanging it in a CA motor anyway. I have one in my ET and it out flows that motor pretty quickly. I could only get it up to around 5 or so psi before the engine ran out of steam. JMO though.

Hey Iggy, I love what your doing bro. I like the fact that your keeping CA motors alive!  Wish I welding skills, I'd like to add some bracing to mine.  Next time I'm in LV maybe ill hit you up and check out your 12welve.  Again let me know if you need any CA bits.

IggyEGuanaJan 8, 2013, 12:28 am · #22

been making slow progress. working late and cold temps kill my motivation for getting stuff done on the car after work. Got the stitching done for now. got most the roll cage tubes ready for welding. Still need to prep the areas of the car that will get the cage welded to them. but as soon as the cage is in i can start putting the car back together. unfortunetly its not gonna get painted this month so a lot of the stuff i took apart was for nothing. the first event of the year is coming up on the 27th. its a practice event on the outside road course at the speedway. should be a lot of fun. the 2nd event is feb 23rd. its round 1 of the ProAM. Hopefully I can get the car painted before then

IggyEGuanaJan 11, 2013, 7:31 pm · #27

sideways_s12Jan 11, 2013, 10:23 pm · #28

Like legit paint it or just do it yourself? And when I say legit I mean take it to a place that does paint like S.M.AB

burritomannnJan 11, 2013, 11:16 pm · #29

If you need help prepping the current paint or if your planning to sand the entire car, let me know! I love painting

IggyEGuanaJan 12, 2013, 8:53 am · #30

i'm gonna shoot it in my garage. its not gonna be a real nice paint job i know but it'll do for a drift car. i just want to get rid of the red. gonna do it after jan 27th and before feb 23rd. the 23rd is round 1 of the proAM

sideways_s12Jan 12, 2013, 9:15 am · #31

Jeremy AJan 13, 2013, 9:48 pm · #36

^ White too?

sideways_s12Jan 13, 2013, 9:58 pm · #37

Nah Not white I want to do something like lavender maybe something different but I don't find alot of colors that look good on the s12I already have a black one and i've owned so many red ones it's not funny lol maybe I'll do a camo theme since it'll be my street battle car.....

8SixS12Jan 13, 2013, 10:34 pm · #38

So Iggy, are you gonna paint the cage or keep it white?  Mad skillz Iggy, Mad skillz.

IggyEGuanaJan 14, 2013, 4:03 am · #39

next thing to do is move the car so its facing nose out of the garage and pull the notch nose to it. then start pulling apart the notch. engine and trans first. then swap front suspensions. then cut and weld the shifter opening in the floor back to normal and then put the motor and trans in the red car

s12richJan 14, 2013, 7:16 pm · #40

very nice cant wait to see more

IggyEGuanaJan 14, 2013, 11:16 pm · #41

thx

got the car turned around and facing out tonight. tomorrow afternoon i'll start pulling the notch apart

Johnny_boiJan 18, 2013, 4:17 am · #42

Get any work done?

IggyEGuanaJan 18, 2013, 9:19 am · #43

ya the harness is out of the notch. about to put it in the red car this morning. got some other odds and ends done. probably gonna pull the motor this morning too.

Johnny_boiJan 18, 2013, 9:51 pm · #44

I rewired mine and drop a bunch of weight. But I'm not running anything but lights and wipers. Also ratsun has a product that runs the efi so you don't have to have all those relays all over the place. It pretty cheap to like $100. I'm going to use that for my swap. I'll post a link if you want

I got the front suspension off the notch too. I wanted to take it as the whole subframe and everything but one of the subframe bolts rounded off so that wasted a bunch of time and i had to take the arms off the subframe.
